Plex Amp - Changing Users Forces Logout / Login

Player Version#: PlexAmp v4.11.2 (starring React Native v0.72.15)

I can not change users on PlexAmp.

I have 3 kinds of users:

  • Owner
  • Managed User
  • Linked User

When using PlexAmp, on any device, whether it’s an Android Phone, or Windows Desktop, whenever I try and “Switch User” from Owner > Managed User, I get stuck in a loop where I have to Log back in, and when I log in, I’m back as the Owner.

If I “Switch User” from Owner > “Linked User”, everything works fine.

When using the regular Plex app, all users work fine.

I sent an Email to Plex, apparently this should work. But it’s never worked for me. Always assumed it was a bug that would get fixed.

I’ve never been a “Server Logs” kind of guy, so no idea where to even look.

I can only reproduce this if the managed user that I switch to does not have access to a Music library already. Which is still not great but wanted to check if that is the case for you as well.

Correct, what @BigWheel says is the only instance I know of it signing you out.

Unsurprising … I think that was the issue. Not sure why I never checked that. The Music Library is new - relative to the users and other libraries - and I guess I never gave anyone but the Owner access to it. The Linked Users worked fine since those where all brand new (as of this week) when I created them as a work around for this issue.
