Plex and DSM 7.2.1 compatibility

Hi,

On my DS218 NAS I’m offered DSM version 7.2.1-69057 Update 3, but I’m told that Plex Media Server version 1.32.7.7621 is not compatible and will be disabled.

Is an update available?

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your answer, but what does this have to do with my question? A link to the FAQ about migrating from DSM 6 to DSM 7 doesn’t answer my question. I’m asking if there’s a version compatible with DSM 7.2.1 update 3.

Sorry, I thought you were offered the option to upgrade to DSM 7.2.1 from DSM 6 as that will indeed need a different binary due to the significant changes between the two DSM versions (same for the additional migration steps).

I’m not aware of any incompatibilities.

To add to Tom80h, if I roughly translate what you’ve shared:

  1. Before continuing, make sure you are aware of the important changes that will be implemented

  2. The following packages will be automatically updated or require manual updating to a compatible version, after updating DSM. Please check the package status in the Package Center following the update. Plex Media Server

This implies to both of us you currently have DSM 6.

Can you please tell us if you have shared folder Plex which contains Library / Application Support / Plex Media Server

-OR-

if you have shared folder PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server

Thanks

I do NOT have DSM 6…

Same warning here when looking to upgrade DSM from a recent 7.2 version to a slightly newer one. This is a new warning about Plex Media Server incompatibility that did not occur with earlier DSM 7 minor version updates.

Please advise.

I am updating to 7.2.1-69057 now. I will report momentarily

  1. Updated to DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 3 (manual update PAT)
  2. PMS operates normally. No intervention required.
  3. DSM update required 10 minutes

I will investigate (discuss with Synology) why DSM issues the warning.

Okay, so you’re confirming that it’s safe to upgrade?

@leFada_David

Yes, I confirm it is OK to update

Thank you for taking the time

Thank you!

I was unaware of last weeks update. I needed to update myself so I am current
