Server update seriously messed up Plex

Server Version#: DSM 7.2-64570 Update 3
Player Version#: 1.29.2.6364

I’m not even sure if I’m posting in the correct section or not. But I’ve been stressing the entire day away regarding the update I did with my Synology. Once I got onto version 7, Plex stopped working immediately. I’ve even uninstalled and re-installed it to see if that would solve things. (Even restarted my server). And nothing’s working.

Do a search on the forum for “synology dsm 7” and you’ll get a bunch of results.

If that doesn’t help you, I know @ChuckPa has been very helpful in working out these issues.

I’m available for questions and specific help.

It’s not as hard as it looks but it DOES look scary

Got nearly everything back up and running (somehow). Now I just need a bit of guidance in adding a second volume for Plex. My shared folder only covers one drive. I’ve a second one to add as well.

How do you have your storage on DSM itself defined?

Did you define individual drives (NON-RAID) ?
-or-
Did you add all the drives into a single “Big Disk” RAID volume (which becomes volume1) ?

Which synology model do you have ?

Regarding moving everything over from DSM 6 → DSM 7, the “Plex” shared folder is empty now?

Please remember, on DSM 7, the PlexMediaServer shared folder is fragile.
Don’t put any media anywhere in there.
(On DSM 7. PlexMediaServer is a non-privileged user and can’t fix permissions if broken)
