I’ve been dealing with this frustration for at least 6 months, having to play a lot of shows through the web browser of my Chromebook instead of the android app, because the android app only plays music while voice channels are completely missing. i tried changing all the advanced settings about what the device supports, hoping at some point it would play properly or at least force a transcode into 2.0, but never worked. up until now I thought maybe it could be some problem with the samsung chromebook pro, but I received my google pixel slate today and it exhibits the same behavior.
i’m happy to provide as much information that i can…logs, demo files exhibiting problems, remote access through vpn, accounts on my plex server…just need to know what is useful to track this down. also if i’m just an idiot and some setting change can make everything work, please let me know
does Plex Web mess up when you tap to do things (instead of using mouse / trackpad)? Have also been dealing with that on both the old chromebook and pixel slate. Seems like all taps get registered twice (maybe an issue of both click & touch events getting generated?), so i have to quickly make a second tap somewhere i know a dialog won’t appear to do some things.
I’ve got the same issue on Pixel Slate when using the Android App - audio seems to just be the background (laugh track in videos i tested) with no voice or other sounds…
But then in the web app i can’t play any videos, the play button does nothing
I have the exact same issue on my Slate.
Really annoying because the web app sounds fine, but is really difficult to use with touch and is buggy and crashes.
Ok, Plex Web works fine on my pixel slate WITH the keyboard. Trying to use touch everything works except the actual play buttons (both the button in the menu bar and the button on the video thumbnail)
like i said above…use two fingers and tap play and then like a tiny fraction of a second later tap with another finger in the middle of the screen. annoying, and it usually takes me a couple of tries, but generally works
yeah, some files still have no voice channel. i’ve found that some other 5.1 files have [a] voice channel[s] but at super low volume and there’s a weird echo cave-like effect
I’m using Acer 14 Chromebook with the same issue when using the Android app for Plex- when playing a video with 5.1 audio the voice channel is either missing or at an very low volume level. This happens also on streaming live TV audio that is broadcast in 5.1 audio.
This problem does not happen if I use the browser and web instead of the Android app.
This problem does not happen when using the Android app on my Samsung Galaxy S9+.
Same issue here but I think I’ve pinned it to EAC3 specifically. Considering how the web player really misbehaves on the Slate in tablet mode I sure hope they fix this.
I’m also getting a weird color when using the plex app on the Slate in tab mode. whole screen turns greenish or yellow’ish. sorry I’m colorblind but it’s one of these for sure. and I’m still having the sound issues unless it’s drops the conversion to 480 or something, then the sound works fine.
Same here on my ASUS Chromebox 3, just some background noise but no voices. I can get voice if I downgrade the quality to 720 2mbps but on my large monitor that quality is as annoying as not hearing the voice track.
