Plex android player says my NAS is offline, but it's not, won't play on 5G, but will play on WiFi

Plex android player says my NAS is offline, but it’s not won’t play on 5G, but will play on WiFi.
My 5G speed where I’m trying to do this is 441Mbps dwn / 48Mbps up, which is even faster than my cable home internet 300/10
This worked fine a couple weeks ago, but now it doesn’t. I think I had done a server update in the last couple weeks, but maybe not. I bought this new phone so I could watch my things while I had chemo, my old phone wouldn’t work well with it. If someone has an idea on this, I would appreciate it. WiFi at hospital is too weak to stream. Like I said it worked fine in the hospital a couple weeks ago, but not now. I’ll be trying again there today when I go.

Oh, sitting here right next to my server and router, my phone still says my NAS is offline while on 5G, even when I have it all open and doing things with the hard drives, it’s not asleep.
my phone is a Samsung A13 5G

When I was at the hospital earlier it was still saying my NAS was offline, which it’s not. would any logs help someone to help me out here? If so, which ones? I can watch Amazon Prime using the 5G just fine, my Plex is the only one not acting right. It works fine going to the 4K ROKU stick in the bedroom over internet.

Do you experience this both on remote networks → Plex app successfully connects to your server from a remote WIFI but fails to connect via 5G?
If so, there could be some change with your carrier, e.g. blocking certain ports or traffic.

If this is about remote connections in general, you might need to review your remote access setup.

Remote access shows it to be good, all green. Nothing on my side from T-Mobile is being blocked, it worked fine a couple weeks ago at the hospital using 5G. I have an excellent signal in there. It’s like the newest Plex server version borked the mobile here. On my Asustor NAS it doesn’t allow you to go to an older server version without a ton of things to do it, had to do that once with a bad server version Plex released awhile back. The hospital’s 2.4GHz wireless is too weak for anything, I can pull it up but it won’t play very well at all. Couple weeks ago the 5G was doing great with it all there.

Have you verified you can reach your server from the 5G network, e.g. by checking your home router’s WAN IP and the specified public port for Plex from that 5G network (e.g. pinging the IP/port or by trying to load the bundled web app)?
ISPs change things all the time… you usually won’t notice most of those changes – just the ones breaking your remote access from their network :frowning:

I think I have the solution, you had asked me to look at the remote settings and they were green and good to go, then I saw it go red and gone. I did the manual setting of it and it’s working fine now on 5G. That was something I hadn’t changed since the Plex server update, but it’s working now on 5G. Weird. I can do the test at the hospital next Tuesday, I bet it will work though, because it wasn’t connecting sitting here next to it on 5G, but it is now. Thank you for the assistance and pointing me in the area to look more closely at. I’ll report final findings next Tuesday.

You can already test/confirm by disabling your mobile’s WIFI and trying to connect to your Plex server.

As you saw, I have tested it and it works. The hospital will just be a final confirmation for me on it.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction to find the answer.

It ran fantastic yesterday at the hospital!
