Plex app for LG tv shows "Network unavailable" after the last update

What have you tried to fix your network unavailable philly4?

I’ve set “prefer insecure connections” to all available options, I’ve set “allow fallback to insecure connections” to all available options…and ensured I’ve tried every combo of the two.

I’ve set the manual server IP.

I’ve tried wired connection via LAN cable…both with PMS and TV.

I’ve tried wireless connection…both with PMS and with TV.

I’ve tried different combos of wireless and LAN with PMS and TV.

I’ve tried manually setting google DNS and openDNS (and my ISPs default DNS).

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex app on my TV

I’ve factory reset my TV and reinstalled PMS on a factory reset nVidia Shield together.

I think I’ve tried some other things as well that I can’t think of at the moment.

On your TV network settings and in server Ipv6 is disabled, correct?

Server Network settings/List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth/ Subnet Mask or your “router” IP address/24

Added your Server as a static LAN IP address in your Router

Yes, yes, and yes. IPv6 is disabled in PMS too. DNLA is disabled in PLEX…it was recommended to do that as well.

This is clearly not a “network” issue and a PMS/LG TV Plex app bug. I can stream the same content via DNLA (when DNLA is turned on in Plex) from the same PMS perfectly every time. The LG TV XPlay app works with no issues as well.

There was a time when it worked just fine…several PMS/LG app versions ago…and I didn’t make any changes other than PMS/LG app updates. I have not tried downgrading my plex versions as that is very cumbersome to do on an nVidia shield and not possible on the TV.

I’m having the same issue on my LG TV since the last server update. And the APP is veryyyyyyy slow, takes almost 1 minute to react.

Had the same issue. Plex app on my old LG TV was veryyyyy slow as you put it. I just downgraded to Version 1.18.9.2578 and it has seemed to fix the issue. Fingers crossed.

There is definitely issues since the last update with TV apps. I’ve seen it on LG and Samsung.

From begining Netcast LG, was unable to connect from second house(different network). TV in same subnet was working fine. Today was trying to diagnose problem on first tv, and logged out on second tv. So now both tv’s cant get activation code for plex.tv/link , so i cant login. Internet on tv’s is working fine, issue only with plex authentification.

Hello, I too am having trouble since the last update.
I have an LG 55LA740V. After a very long load time, I eventually get the Plex login screen but it hangs at that stage.
Still works fine all all other devices so have reverted to using my Fire stick plugged into my smart TV
If you’re able to fix the problem that would be amazing.

Same issue here, PLEX working fine on all other devices but webos on my LG OLED 2018.
Having said that I also have the remote network issue despite the port being visible. It’s so frustrating.

I’ve the same issue here, used the plex app on LG 42LF580V for last 4 years. Tried to access the app this morning, app takes an age to open is s slow to navigate and won’t connect to the server. iPads etc all fine. Rebooted everything, deleted and reinstalled app. Nothing !!! Need a solution from plex here please.

Is anyone from PLEX actually reading these posts to suggest a solution or are we all just posting into the nirvana?

Just to understand the topic regarding secure connection correctly. What SE56 and igowas are saying is to set it to PREFERRED in the PLEX MEDIA SERVER settings under NETWORK/secure connections. Then on your LG TV you choose ALWAYS for both ALLOW FALLBACK TO INSECURE CONNECTIONS and PREFER INSECURE CONNECTIONS. I have just done this change and will report if that fixes it for me as well.

We’re posting into the nirvana it seems
tbh the guys @ Plex probably have other things to worry about at the moment. Thank goodness for my Fire stick so I have a workaround for watching Plex on my TV… Hope the other users with a LG TV have similar.
Trusting the clever people @ Plex will get to our problem soon enough.
Update - the suggestion from SE56 & igowas finally worked for me. It took me almost 60 mins as the Plex menu’s on LG were impossibly slow prior to enabling insecure connections.

What your meaning here? Or is this a reference Nevermind.

I had the problem too. I’m using a Synology NAS DS916+ if I upgrade past 1.18.9.2578 I get a client that’s just too slow to use on my LG’s. This is on two LG’s with different versions of the webos that LG use. My Samsung seemed only slightly slower.

How I fixed this was to uninstall Plex from the NAS as you cannot down grade it won’t let you. After uninstalling I rebooted the NAS (Just in case) and installed version PlexMediaServer-1.18.9.2578-513b381af-x86_64.spk

Note: I didn’t loose any settings and all my users were still there.

This fixed problems on all 3 TV’s even though the Samsung only seems to be slightly slower.

I’d previously tried all the wired and wireless and resetting routers. I’d uninstalled only one of the TV’s Plex clients. The two TV’s that didn’t get uninstalled work perfectly.

So this is looking like a bug in any PMS version past 1.18.9.2578 mainly with LG’s TV’s. This was however on a NAS if anyone has experience of this on PC and the fix of rolling back working please comment.

Having the same problem. Was having a little luck removing the lg tv from authorized devices and then closing the lg plex app and reopening it. Most of the time it will ask to re link the account but even then it’s hit and miss. I’ve done everything people suggested as a fix. It only started with the lg plex app update on 3/17.

Running plex server on Freenas box. Don’t have any problems on iOS devices or amazon fire stick.

Hi, I am just wondering if a plex employee is going to reply

I followed those settings suggestions but it didn’t sort the issue for me. Only if I start, close the plex app multiple times only then when I am lucky it will work. Its so annoying.
