Plex and webOS error 337

Hi

I saw this post : LG Smart TV (Check network Connection)

And he have same problem as me. But i cant reply on post. How do i contact this Diabolix guy to ask him to help fix my problem too?

If admin read this…can u help me make contact with him please.

Regards

You have the same problem that your TV and server are on different networks? If so, the fix is to get them both onto the same network. That’s what was the problem with that other user and what the fix was.

how do i do that? My plex server is in Netherland, im in south africa…can u tell me step by step how to do it?

Do you have secure connections enabled on the Server? It should be Preferred.

yes. its on preferred…

Then you don’t have the same problem as the OP in that other thread. You’re gonna need to provide logs for us to check what’s going on.

how do i give u logs?

Logs have already been provided multiple times…@MovieFan.Plex will just tell you

Which clearly isn’t true because it only happens when using the Plex app. Third party plex apps (XPlay) on the LG store work just fine.

Hi all,
Here is my current configuration :

  • Plex Server ver. 1.18.8.2527 installed on a Synology NAS DS 218+
  • Plex Client LG TV ver. 4.29.2 installed on my TV LG C855

I got the ERROR -337 on Plex LG client two months ago… it was impossible to use Plex on my TV because the application went on error after only 1 minute after launching. Sometimes, after restarting the application, the problem disappears but the behavior was very random !

The strange thing is that I have never experienced this problem from my other client devices (iPad, PC win10, MacBook Pro, …) but only from my LG TV.

After googling and trying some stuffs, it seems that my problem was linked to a bad management of the IPv6 support between both Plex client and server (or something like that).
Thanks to luck, I have finally found a solution !

Here are the steps I have done :

  1. From the Plex Server web interface

a/ Check your Plex Server version from Settings / General menu, and please, update it to the following version (at least) :

b/ Disable the IPv6 support from Settings / Network menu by unchecking the relative box as following :

  1. From the Plex LG Client interface

a/ Check your Plex LG Client version from Settings / About menu, and please, update it to the following version (at least) :

b/ (Not mandatory but recommended) Set manually the IP address of your Plex Server from Settings / Manual Servers menu, as following (by replacing IP address & port with yours) :

  1. From the LG TV WebOS

Disable the IPv6 support from Settings / Network menu by selecting “Disabled” below the relative field as following :

That’s all !

I have tested Plex LG TV with these settings since 2 weeks and everything works fine… no more ERROR -337

I hope this tiny tuto will help you.

Regards,
Seb

Never noticed the IPv6 setting on my LG TV. That could definitely be the issue. IPv6 support in Plex is still not all that great.

Seb, thanks for the post. Unfortunately your fix doesn’t work for me. All your settings recommended I already had set. (my LG TV defaults to IPv6 off) I caveat that with I’m currently running PMS 1.18.9.2578 vs the version you posted. I run PMS on an nVidia Shield so it’s a bit of a process to downgrade.

Philly, I’m sorry it doesn’t help you.
If something else comes to my mind (custom settings or other stuff), then I’ll inform you !
Good luck

Hi Seb. Thanks for posting this - I had not seen the IPv6 setting on my TV before. I have made the change (and I am running PMS 1.18.8.2527) but unfortunately the Plex app still does not load. In fact the problem has got worse - Plex will not load even when freshly installed now! So I’m giving up. Plex support are clearly not investigating this issue. I will continue to use Plex on my FireTV 4k stick.

Cheers

Hi @rups0911,
It’s very strange that you get worse by disabling IPV6 support… In fact the problem is complex and seems to be linked to several things… a real headache :frowning:

By the way, on my side, I’ve deactivated “auto connection” from the Plex LG client because we are many at home to use Plex and I set a PIN code in order to “keep” my kids from watching anything on PMS.

Option I have deactivated from Plex LG client :

The Plex login screen on LG TV :

This settings can also be significative because it forces the Plex Client to connect to PMS directly after launching and, may be, it “pre-initializes” the connection before the “network not available” error happens.

It’s just a guess… if you have time, you could try that.

I am not able to get to this setting in step#2. I installed the Plex app from the LG content store. Are you using a different Plex app?

That’s the official app, just in French. You must setup Home users in your server to see iSebC second photo.

Hi @mark_kam,

I am confused when you talk about step #2, do you refer to :

my first post :

or my second one :

In case of the first post, It’s the official Plex Client that I retrieved from LG content store as you said and the GUI is in French (as @SE56 specified). It is installed on a LG 55C8 TV.

By the way, I owned another LG TV (model 32LF650V) and the GUI appears a little bit different because it’s an old LG WebOS.

What is the model of your LG TV ?

Thank you for the reply! I was referring to the first post. I have a LG 65E9. The -337 error just won’t go away. I gave up on the official Plex client and started using Xplay instead.

I’m sorry for that, @mark_kam .
These settings have worked in my case… may be it depends of the LG TV model… really weird !
