Plex App LG WebOS keeps buffering every second after fast-forward and resume

I think LG actually fixed the issue, not plex…

My plex client is 5.9.2 and my LG webOS is 05.80.60.

I am not aware of any fix that Plex made. This issue was seen only on certain LG OS versions so if LG released a new firmware, that could explain the fix.

There was a update but I believe it was more to do with airplay support. Having said that it 's awesome it’s fixed.

I was playing around on the app tonight and I was not seeing this issue anymore. Was watching something with PGS subs so the video transcoding was active. Skipping forward beyond what would have been pre-buffered did not result in any stuttering a minute later.

My TV’s over four years old and I do not believe it is getting any software updates anymore (I actually think I have auto updates disabled on it, too). So possible Plex fixed it accidentally.

Cool it’s resolved either way.

My TV is an LG 55EG9A7V with LG Web OS 2 (04.06.40). I am using plex server on my WD Mycloud PR4100.
I installed the latest server version 1.22.1.4275 but the problem is still not resolved for the subtitled movies.
I have downgraded to the reliable version 1.16.6.1592.

The TV is a 2017 model. The problem appeared in October 2019.

So support for PLEX software: 2 years. What a shame!

That is old, latest is 1.22.2.4282

not old, dates from April 6

Just not the latest…

It is resolved for everyone else, so must be something very specific to your conditions, or plain misconfigured…

The latest Plex for LG app only runs on LG OS 3+. You are running an older version of the Plex app which is no longer supported. The fix that is working for everyone else does not apply to you. You have a different issue, but due to that app no longer being supported, there won’t be a fix. Sorry.

So how do I fix buffering issues on a LG TV running webOS version 3.9.0-62705?

Your best shot is to purchase a Box like Roku, ATV, NVIDIA Shield Pro. Something you did not what to hear. Sorry :grimacing:

Are there more of you where the issue seems to be returning only worse?
Trying to watch a movie, direct play. It freezes, waits for about 10 seconds and then resumes. Freezes again and repeat, repeat, repeat. Playing the movie slightly transcoded doesn’t really change the playback.

Just upgraded the video from 1080p to 4KHDR.
This is worse.
Way worse.
Direct play freezes and never resumes. When I change to transcoding the playback is scary familiar to the previous issue from a couple of months ago.

Haven’t tried rolling back the installation yet.

It’s not only happening with movies. I’m also experiencing playback issues with TV shows where just the audio stops for a fraction of a second and then returns.

I’m running Unraid 6.9.2, using linuxserver’s docker image. Upgraded Nvidia drivers managing 1 quadro M4000 GPU.

It could be a glitch in the docker image, but I’d like to hear from you all if all is well on your end

my mobile app is also unresponsive

I just rolled back to 1.22.2.4282
Movie playback is perfect. No freezes/glitches

Just checked, all still works; so it’s just you (and a few select more) that have probably other issues…
Even my TV Plex app updated recently to 5.0.1, and my TV is an 2016./2017. model with WebOS 3.3.4, and all works just fine.
