I have the same problem as stated in the above comments, the native plex app for WebOS and the newer version of PMS does not work well together, when resuming play of a movie/series with subtitles
Remove the subtitles and it works just fine.
Play from the beginning and it works just fine with subtitles.
I can also confirm rollingback to PMS version 1.16.3.1402 works, and that any newer version causes the problem.
TV: LG UK6100PLB WebOS Version 5.80.35
PMS server: Windows 10 64bit
Works well with the unofficial xplay app for WebOS and the newer versions of PMS
@markus101 sorry for the extra ping, but was just curious what the status is for this issue. Havenāt seen any requests for logs or additional information, so were the devs able to reproduce it easily?
Hi Markus, any news here, still same issue for me on my LG tv when I tried to upgrade to 1.18.3.2156
Iāve filed a regression with the server team and itās in their hands now. Beyond that I donāt have anything to share and probably wonāt unless more information is required to diagnose.
1.18.4.2171 still has the stutters combined with LG 49SJ810V.
Rolling back to 1.16.0.1226 this weekend
Edit 01.06:
Worked like a charm. All progress was still there
Hi, does your update indicate it now works and no more buffering?
Yes, it did. 1.16.0.1226 hasnāt stuttered since the migration last sunday. I have to say I only resumed one of my movies, it did stutter before the migration. After I installed the called version I could watch it without any issues.
Follow the steps that can be found at I need to rollback from the latest Plex update and you will be fine
Hi, running 1.16.4.1469 the only one i had avaiable, as iām new here, any difference ?
I really canāt say anything about build 1.16.4.1469
Iāve been scrolling through a couple of websites and 1.16.0.1226 kept popping up. Did a quick search, but it seems you canāt download any old setup files directly from plex.
It is at least worth a try with your lowest build, please keep us posted
Hi, it seems to be ok, but would like to try with your version, can you share?
I just sent you a message
If you guys were able to discover the exact build where this regression was introduced, it might help to send that over to the PMS guys. It could help narrow down exactly what broke, and hopefully help them push a fix sooner.
Iām pretty sure Iām using the latest PMS version (1.16.6.1592) before it went to 1.17.X.X. I havenāt tested this but I suspect the issue first appears in 1.17.0.1709. I donāt have time to test this at the moment so if someone confirms before me then please post back.
Im running 1.16.4.1469 and there it works, but i remember trying first version in 17⦠and there it was broken. Hope that can help
I can confirm the issue was introduced in version 1.17.x.x. I donāt know the exact minor version either. But it was 1.17 when things broke.
@ChuckPa @anon18523487 apologize for the ping, and I know Marcus filed a regression with the Plex Media Server side, but I think it would be good to loop you in just in case since I see you respond a lot in that category. This topic was made in the webos category, so it may not even be on your radar even though it has been identified as an issue with PMS. Basically, there is a regression in version 1.17 based on the rest of the postersā experience. When using the LG WebOS client with any version past 1.17, on resuming or seeking media that is transcoding, the audio and video will stutter like crazy. The only option is to play the media from the beginning if needing to transcode, or to direct play it.
As mentioned in this thread, the issue is not buffering. The same media would play fine if the above criteria are not met, and when network is not an issue like when playing locally, the buffering warning does not even display, the video just stutters. Rolling back to server version 1.16 fixes the issue.
The bug has been around for a while and could probably be categorized as fairly big. Essentially, it means if you have one of these very expensive LG TVs, you can only use Plex if you are going to direct play everything or watch everything from beginning to finish. I hope adding you to the thread can expedite the fix since the user testing has identified that it is a Plex Media Server regression as well as for which version (1.17). At the very least, it may give some transparency if you guys are aware of the issue, can reproduce it, are working on a fix, etc.
I appreciate your understanding, and again, apologize for the ping. As you may have noticed, this issue impacts me quite a bit since we only have LG TVs in both my household and my parentās household. Just trying to get the issue resolved as efficiently as possible.
I have an LG TV and running 1.18. So I should be able to recreate this by just resuming a video from the middle?
Yes, if it is transcoding. But I have a B6, so Iām not sure if all models are impacted. Some have mentioned they donāt have the issue.
I have the same issue i think
I am running plex Version 1.18.4.2171, my TV is LG B7
After pausing or trying to fast forward/rewind plex wonāt restart and I just get a black screen with the message buffering no video at all.
I can restart from the beginning but not resume anything part way through.
I have now turned off DirectPlay on the Plex client TV settings and it now lets me pause / resume.
But anything higher res than 1080p has a problem because DirectPlay is turned off.
