Unloaded early Access Plex and server not found error was cured.
So you saying opting out of preview resolved the problem. You do know you need to adjust the preview settings, by adding manual server and allowing insecure connections on local network.
I have no connection issues with my server, can you explain that for me.
I have been fighting this problem on-and-off for a few months now. Usually perseverance of “retry x10” works. (PS. I am a remote Plex server setup. Wifi standard, 2x LG TV’s, decent Network speed)
I have followed ALL recommendations:
- disabled IPV6
- defined Server IP (worked once then back to error)
- Reset TV to default, reinstalled app, etc.
Then tried - changing Wifi network name, removed auth, etc)
- PS (TV works for Amazon, Netflix, Youtube, etc)
AND THEN… ONLY A WORKAROUND…But it works (for me) reliable.
- create a HOTSPOT on your Cellphone (hope you can), Connect TV, connect to Plex, then while plex is running go to Settings of your TV and jump back onto your Home Wifi.
You will see a PopUp with Plex that Internet Connection has been lost but it then goes away as you get the IP from your Homewifi.
Have been doing this for 4-days now and always works.
I can’t tell you why, but wanted to share a work-around to THE MOST ANNOYING thing in my life right now.

This has been driving me nuts too. Today I found an alternative on the LG store, called XPlay. It seems to be payable, but I’ll try it for the demo period. So far works better than Plex.
I would try using a Public DNS in TV network settings. You have to do it manually rather finding network automatically.
For me
1.1.1.1
seems to be really good.
You have restarted the TV from power source
Xplay works, undeniably better. But it’s Foreign owned/run so I worry about Data privacy, etc. with regards to the “content” I have put in my instance.
Just my “tinfoil hat” worries.

And it cost money when I am already paying for PlexPass.
I have tried this, using a few of the Fastest and most-accurate DNS servers. And to no avail.
Also restored TV to factory software, did updates, fresh install of Plex and a “Re-Link” of my TV to plex.
Prime Video, Netflix and Youtube all work flawlessly on my TV and with my Network.
My work-around also works 100% of the time. Using my Cell-Hotspot to get loggedIn-onto Plex and immediately switching my TV back to my local wifi.
I NEVER get kicked off after the switch back.
I don’t know why Cell network works 100% but my local works 1% on the initial call to Plex server.
Understood. I paid the 7€ cost, it saved my sanity. I hope Plex fix the official app.
Hi all,
Experiencing the same problem here. Small differences: I use a wired home network. The error that is thrown is -355 Network unavailable. Only options are Quit App or Retry, There is no error on the network and the LG TV is capable of connecting since NPO Start (IP based TV) is working fine.
I thought I saw an update being applied from the LG Store on Plex about 10 days ago, but I am not sure. At least I am experiencing this problem now for a week or more. Since all my TV´s are LG, I expect to have the problem with all of them. I´ll post updates if I find anything related to the root cause.
Best, Mark.
PS. I don´t get why PLEX does not resolve this issue, seems something that can be easily reproduced.
I have been getting this issue for quite a while now on my LG TV. I’m using the Preview App, and it seems that it always fails to connect first time. Doing a couple of retries sometimes seems to resolve it, but sometimes it doesn’t.
My general process lately is try it a few times, if it does not work, power down the TV, try it again, and if that doesn’t work, I always seem to switch of any devices that are downloading content (BitTorrent, PS4 etc), and try again.
I have tried a few of the fixes listed on this forum (disable IPv6, manually add IP address etc), but to no avail. Its frustrating as my iPad always connects instantly without issue.
After a year of nearly perfect Plex use I suddenly began receiving the following error message when trying to access my Plex server using the Plex app on my LG smart TV (model: 65UH950T)
I found the error message would persist for a short period then Plex would start of its own accord. When trying to play media it would buffer constantly causing it not to be watchable.
This all started after I changed the configuration on the LG to add a wi-fi connection, in addition to the ethernet connection I have always had. As soon as I removed the wi-fi connection, the behaviour disappeared. I can only think that for some reason the LG tv chose to use the wi-fi connection over the ethernet connection when they were both available, causing the app not to connect properly, and also once connected caused the media to buffer via the lower bandwidth. Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.
Dear all,
I have found a workaround for this problem, though it might be it is a specific solution which only works if your network has the same specification as my network: both wifi and hard-wired.
Problem: when starting Plex App on LG, network error -355 is thrown, with only options to retry or exit the App.
- Disable IPv6 on the television. Error remains.
- Use a hardcoded IP address and use a public DNS like 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1. Error remains.
- Deinstall and install Plex App on LG. Error remains.
- Remove TV from Plex (I saw here a dual registration in my account for 1 TV). Error remains
–> this is an important clue, apparently the Plex app does not even communicate to Plex.tv. - I run Plex as a service on my server, using Github code. Stop Plex as-a-service and start Plex default. Error remains
- Stop Plex on my media server. Error remains.
–> next important clue, apparently the error is not related to a media server being present. - Power off and power on the television set (various times during the troubleshooting). Error remains.
- Check with another app if the Internet connectivity is available. Various times during the troubleshooting. No problems with NPO app.
- Use the retry option in the Plex LG app various times. I tried 15 times. Error remains.
–> there must be something miscommunicating between the LG network stack and the Plex LG app - Connect WiFi as well using DNS (remember the TV has a hardcoded, hardwired IP address at this stage of the process). Success! TV registration at Plex.tv successful.
But: in the evening, the -355 error was back. I powered off the TV and on again without changing any setting. And it worked again (??)
However NPO app is now not working any more (I guess because the TV has now two IP addresses) - WiFi only. The error Network unavailable it thrown shortly, and then Plex LG App starts.
- Switch back to hard-wired (1Gb network), with fixed IP address and IPv6 disabled. Sofar I have used Plex LG appr for 2 consecutive days without errors.
I do not have a clue why this workaround works for me, since the setup is now equal to the setup of step 2, and that one failed. But I found earlier posts in this forum that connecting to a hotspot and then switching back to the original WiFi does the job too.
I would suggest Plex Inc and LG Inc to investigate in a network driver or stack problem, maybe some kind of persistant overflow or memory leak which clears out when switching networks.
Good luck all!
This is not the same screen as ´error -355´ - however the solution looks like the same (see my post above as well).
Definitive solution found!
it has been working for 2 weeks and always connects to the first attempt
TV LG65C8PLA
It is absolutely necessary to change
IN HOME ROUTER
DHPC
primary DNS server 8.8.8.8
secondary DNS server 8.8.4.4
all other solutions DO NOT WORK
enjoy !
It’s good to see people still trying to find a ‘forever’ solution.
It seems that the <Change DNS, disable IP6, etc. steps work for some folks)
As it relates to my it always works…
Activate a Hotspot on your CellPhone
Connect TV to Hotspot
Start Plex, get to the Home Screen/Login Page (Login at this point if you like)
Go to Settings in your TV
Connect to your Home Wi-Fi network
Plex will REMAIN at the login page,
Proceed with normail Plex Login
Worked 100% EVERYTIME for me.
UPDATE…
Did the above for 3-4 days each time I used Plex.
On 5th day, tried it with my Home Wi-Fi and it WORKS PERFECTLY now
Been 15 days with “Network Unavailable”
Maybe a Network Details CACHE issue within Plex not sure what details the Plex app uses/saves as it regards to ROUTING or such.
Thx.
M.
I have the same problem “Network unavailable”.
Specification
TV model name : LG 49UB8500
Plex server version : 1.21.0.3608 (2020/11/18) - Latest version can’t work.
TV app version : 2.2.0 (2020/3/17)
Anyone who solved the problem?
I bought a new LG LM57, Plex will NOT work. Just get an error stating “media server unavailable”, it is available as my LG 55UK TV Plex works just fine. I am able to access my NAS on new TV using LG’s Video-Photo APP without any problems.
I have tried every recommendation in this thread using wired, wireless and even my laptop as a hotspot.
The APP ver:
LG 55UK - 5.7.1
LG LM57 - 3.13.28
