On the plex app on the Sony tv, my media server name is showing but no “TV Shows” folder or “Movies” folder. My Roku and Galaxy S10 players are working fine. This is a brand new install. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, re-logged password, managed the device on the server, etc. Tried hard wiring, and changed WIFI networks, 2.4g and 5 g bands.
I assume this version of plex app is not currently compatible with Sony 900e? Is it possible to side load an older version, last know working version onto teh Sony 900e?
I am running into the same issue. The PLEX app no longer shows my movies to browse. I can search for a movie using the search facility. So the integration with back end is in place. It just appears as though the current client app for the Sony TV does not show recently downloaded movies, browsing thumbnails, etc.
I’m having the same issue. Just loaded up the newest version of the app on a brand new Sony Android TV and it looks like Plex has decided to push all of MY content to the back of the house and make it harder for me to get to.
Here’s some feedback for the development team: Doing this is massively disrespectful to all of us users who paid for a lifetime of app usage. I installed and use Plex to manage MY media, not some poorly curated morass of content from other sources. Want me to stop singing the plex praise? This is how you do that.
If you don’t want the free online media you can turn it off in your account settings.
I’m not clear if y’all mean they are not showing at all or only showing when you click more or only when you do a search.
With HOME selected move LEFT and click the three dots and you should be able to select Reset customizations to select which of you libraries you want on home screen.
That’s just it, I PAID already for an app that lets me browse MY media on MY server. And now, it’s an app that shoves a bunch of irrelevant content I never asked for in my face and relegated MY content to the bottom of some menu where I have to go and dig it up. That’s some real inconsiderate design. Now I have to go and manually tweak a bunch of settings just to get to what I PAID for in the first place.
And for the record @BigWheel, I already had all of those online content sources disabled in my account settings and yet they were still there when I loaded and logged in. Meanwhile, all of my content was ‘gone’ and (eventually) found behind extra menus…so now I have to ‘re-pin’ MY content when I’m a PAID subscriber?
this thread was opened about user for whom their media libraries is not showing up at all from what i understand only via search. can you not find your media at all except though search?
They are not talking about the free online media. which is a different subject.
I think a lot of people are seeing their media ‘missing’ because the UI designers of the newest app version have deliberately hid user content behind extra menus and replaced with with ‘Free Online Content’.
When I set up my TV this morning, ALL of my content was ‘missing’ and instead I was greeted with Tidal, Movie, Web Shows, News, Podcasts, etc…ALL of which I had already disabled in my Account Settings previously.
no they didn’t . the home page is intentionally customizable because different users have different wants. I have over 40 libraries from 8 servers. I really only use 2 libraries so that is what i have on my home screen so it it not clogged with stuff i barely uses
the issue they are reporting why nothing is showing up is why I am here trying to find out what is wrong.
many users have asked us to provide free content or to parter with folks like Hulu netflix etc. some don’t want that and that is fine and why they can turn it off. online content showing up when it is turned off ,is a separate issue from libraries not showing.
this topic made by @jasin629 is about his libraries no showing up so that is what I am addressing first. Did you try resettings customizations?
And I’m telling you: For new installs or app updates, it ‘appears’ that their media is missing when in fact it may be hidden behind the new additional menu settings. That is exactly what happened to me. And this was a brand new install of the app on a factory reset TV. Had to link the Plex app to my account and everything. So, where I had an account and all my settings (presumably) the App didn’t respect any of that.
I understand that the homepage is customizable, but once the user has done that, it shouldn’t be replaced, it should be respected. Yay for brand partners and all that, but the primary purpose of the app, the reason I PAID money to be a lifetime subscriber was so that I could watch MY content, not someone else’s. The latest version of the app doesn’t respect that premise.
On the Android TV. With HOME selected move LEFT and click the three dots and you should be able to select Reset customizations to select your primary server ( if you have more than one) then which of your libraries you want on home screen.
if that fixes it for now. the next time it happens it would be helpful to get the app logs right after that. if things went back to some default state then hopefully they might show if there was a memory error or something.
Bigwheel, I still can not force any setting or 3-dot , or reset, to display my “Movies” or “TV shows” All I get are the Plex default items like TIDAL. When I click the downward arrow at my media server there is nothing under it. But, I can search my library.
I have that menu, I clicked the 3 dots and I clicked RESET CUSTOMIZATION. It reset and gave me the option to “Customize your Navigation”. I then unchecked Movies & TV (on Plex), Web Shows, News, Podcasts, and Tidal. The only thing in the left menu is Home and More, I click More and see my Server, but when I click on the arrow to expand nothing is under it. I’m new at this so i’m not sure how to get logs.
