Plex App transcoding movies when choosing SRT Subtitle [LG 2020 TV]

Hi,

after the recent update for the plex app for LG plex started transcoding everything when I choose SRT subtitle. I did not have the issue before this update and everything was direct playing. I tried everything like put burn subtitle to always and image formats only and still got the same problem. I looked in the changelog for the latest update and there is nothing about fixing, or improving SRTs which maybe could cause this bug. I also tried to leave the early access and go the old one but still got the same issue. I hope you can look into this and see whats the problem.

Can you share some more information about what kinds of files you are viewing?

LG TV App Transcoding SRTs

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402 Player Version#: Most of what I watch is recorded TV so it is all MPEG2 video (generally 1080i) and generally AC3 5.1 audio. I strip out the closed captions and convert them to SRT and then convert the .ts file to an .mkv and add in the SRT using ffmpeg. Recently(?) In my case since the new LG TVs do not support DTS at all, No sound comes out when I play a Movie with DTS audio, so the audio gets transcoded and the video remains direct play. I was able to watch movies with srt Subtitles and only the audio got transcoded. Now if I play a movie without a Subtitle it only transcodes the audio but once I turn on Subtitles also the video gets transcoded. Like I said in the previous version of plex it was fine but after the recent update it started transcoding the whole movie because audio is being transcoded and I enabled Subtitle. If I disable the SRT subtitle, video will direct play and everything is back to normal.

An Example is this : Suits.S08E01.1080p.Bluray.DTS.x264
Also tried 4K HDR Remuxes also the same.

When playing a Movie with DD audio or DD+ and I choose SRT there is not transcoding at all because the audio is not being transcoded so plex is transcoding everything when audio is being transcoded and Subtitles are on for some reason

I don’t understand how this issue is not fixed since forever. The same issue was present on NVidia Shield and it was fixed, although some people claim that actually it is not fixed: NVidia Shield: SRT subtitles causing "burn subtitles" to activate when audio is also transcoded. People say that XPlay works correctly but it’s not available on the EU store and not supported any more: Plex transcode subtitle problems.
