Bump.
welp doesnt seem like anything is being done about this considering how many people are reporting this issue. On my laptop I dont have the option to change to the tv layout so I cant try the native OpenGL fix mentioned previously.
Surface Pro 7 here and the Plex Windows App is garbage. 5 frames per second scrolling through thumbnails list and movies wonāt even play. Web version working fine, but I want to download for offline use.
@Plex
When is the release of a stable version planned?
This option is not available with Plex for Windows. So if you go to the General Settings screen and see Plex for Windows - General across the top, youāll want to follow the link in my previous post to download the Plex Media Player application. If youāre already using Plex Media Player, ignore this.
Bump. Surface Pro 4 here, same behaviour, app lag like hell.
Bump.
Bump too,
Iāve got a brand new Surface Pro 7 with i7, Plex was literraly the first app Iāve installed and boy this app is laggy af.
The movies library is slow, scrolling take so much time, the UI is not responding.
I was able to play movies but itās not a very cool experience, at all. I ended up playing my movie directly from my network with the built-in player from windows which not good but way better than the current state of plex on the Surface.
And why on earth would you remove the fullscreen icon. This absurd and make the plex app so hard to use as you have to play a movie to access the fullscreen icon. Youāll tell me you can press F11 but on computer that is littery just a screen with no keyboard, this take a whole new level.
I switch to Emby it worked like a charm and i can download on my surface - even i have a plex pass - ⦠too bad plex ! too bad
bumpā¦canāt let this thread close. Crazy how this issue is so common and has yet to be resolvedā¦
Bump.
Bump, still present in latest version for windows (1.6.3).
Extremely high usage of GPU on a surface pro 4 and laggy performance.
Bump, would really love to start using Plex again but itās been months and months and not even any acknowledgement that this is being worked on⦠please help us!
Since you are having issues with Plex for Windows (1.6.3) you should try Plex Media Player (3.0) and the steps listed on this reply. Keep in mind that Plex for Windows is NOT the same as Plex Media Player. So Plex for Windows will not have the same options as the previously linked reply, you will have to install Plex Media Player to get the options mentioned.
Other users that have done this have told me that simply switching to Plex Media Player solved their issue. Other have had to perform the additional steps I have previously mentioned.
Thanks Alex - your assistance is appreciated. I was using PMP for years and never had any issues with it.
However, Plex has made clear that PMP is end-of-life, and will not receive further development support or updates. Personally Iād rather not continue to invest in a dead end, and canāt consider using a deprecated app a solution to a critical problem in an actively supported one.
Plex retracted their stance on PMP and they are updating it, they did make it hard to find.
Here: Plex Media Player
Same experience here. Laggy UI and high CPU usage even playing H264 file.
Please fix it. It is unacceptable.
Hey Tiebierius,
Thanks for the info! Can you point to an announcement of the change of direction?
The original blog where they had announced the retirement of PMP, lots of crossed out text.
Thank you!
