Plex App Windows 10- Downloads not working and laggy performance

I have the official version:

Windows 10 or later (64-bit only).
1.4.1.940-574c2fa7
November 21, 2019

And I have the same problems as you on XPS15 i7 Nvidia 1050Qmax.

The program logs in so that you can’t use it.

I’ve noticed several regressions in Version 1.4.1.940-574c2fa7 of the new Windows desktop app (missing tool tips when you hover over a button, trying to control it (as a player) with my phone.

I agree that it’s slow, laggy and unresponsive in some situations (paused for a long time, or when episode finishes the interface is unresponsive) but its a relatively new program, so bound to be some issues.’

Give it some time, it’ll get there.

it’s a joke?

I don’t have sound on TV. There was no problem in the old version of PMP.

You should continue using Plex Media Player. You can follow PMP releases here:

I downloaded the PMP from the official download page. In my opinion, this should be the Alpha version, not the final version.

After that v2.46 according to my W10 is dangerous ?!

The original Plex Media Player is no longer available from the download page so that is NOT what you downloaded.

I would call that a false positive.

I’m talking about this version of PMP. It works terribly. It still lags, it loads slowly and I checked the TV today and I have no sound.

It is on the official site for download. Completely without the useful version.

However, I have no problems with the version you provided.

I understand and that is in fact NOT Plex Media Player. It is actually “Plex for Windows” which is not the same thing.

That’s because that’s actually Plex Media Player

I understand that then I have to wait for some Plex for Windows update?

Until now, use PMP.

It’s unlikely that Plex for Windows will ever have all the HTPC (e.g. connect to a TV / audio video receiver) features that PMP has. My best advice is to keep using PMP for as long as it works.

Then why was plex for windows created? It seemed to me that it was to be the successor to PMP. It looks like all the other applications I like. In my opinion, it is on the official download page. I don’t understand why it was created then ?!

Plex made the assumption that the HTPC (Plex Media Player) environment could be adequately replaced with OTT streaming boxes (e.g. Nvidia Shield, Apple TV, etc). So they announced phasing out PMP and released an app that casual desktop users of Plex Media Player (such as myself) would find sufficient (mostly true for me).

They were, in a word, wrong about the first

If you want a simple plex player on your desktop, then Windows / Mac for Plex apps will probably suffice. If you want to use your TV / AVR system, then you will want to stick with PMP.

I do not like this policy. I want to have a modernized look and all new functionalities for which I have paid. I want to have TV and DVR, I want to have everything in one look etc.

Why did Plex brag so much about the new application since it is, to say the least, bad.

The old Plex Windows app is still available from here, the latest Plex wont work for me.

Unfortunately this version doesn’t play movies for me = /.

I think this is how Plex for Widnows should look like and not this trash of Plex for Windows.

Bump.

The downloads feature in the Plex for Windows is still broken in the latest version: 1.4.1.940-574c2fa7

It will download episodes to disk (%AppData%\Local\Plex\Plex Media Server\Sync\1\1) but it doesn’t register it in the app. It just keeps redownloading the episodes over and over again.

Also it would be great if the ‘sync all unwatched episodes’ feature that’s available on phones would be added. It makes no sense that I can only grab 5 episode on my 1TB laptop but grab all the episodes on my phone.

I want to use Plex pass to sync to my laptop whenever I’m away for a trip so that I don’t have to copy everything manually. Without that feature Plex Pass is not really useful to me.

Having the same issues! Any signs of fix anytime soon?

Same here on the Surface Pro 7. Performance is horrid, scrolling lags. Hopefully this gets addressed soon.
