Plex app wont open on 2020 samsung smart tv TU7100

October 2020 - So for the last couple of days the plex app on my samsung TV has stopped working. yesterday i deleted the app and reinstalled it and had the option to login and reset the plex password which fixed it but then today the app would not open again. I deleted and reinstalled again several times but this time no luck. the app does not open and just bounces back to previous screen with no error message. literally nothing happens when i click the app.

i can access my content using plex via my laptop where i have connection to a synology NAS with plex installed no problem it just seems to be an issue with the app installed on the TV.

i can also still access plex via my Fire TV stick on my old TV no problem.

additionally i can also access my Synology NAS movie files directly from the TV ‘source’ and play the movies. This also tells me that it is specifically the plex app on the TV that is the issue but im stuck how to get it working again. any help appreciated.

i bought the tv six weeks ago and havnt had any issues with the plex app up until now.

Ok I was considering paying for plex pass but if the app isn’t supported on smart tv’s, like I’m reading here, then I don’t have trust in using plex going forward without further issues. I guess you need to have a plex pass to get a response here also! Any suggestions on alternatives to plex that are supported and work on smart tv’s?

Not sure what the issue could be, but it should be a supported device. You can try resetting the Smart Hub on the TV itself and see if that helps
