Reinstalled plex cannot access application

I was having problems with Plex on Windows 11. I uninstalled the application and deleted the registry values and local data folders like the support article said. I reinstalled the application and now I am unable to access plex when I start up the program. I can access plex.tv but not the plex server app or settings on my computer. I must be missing something! Any help is appreciated.

Have you finished the setup after installing the app?

In order to complete the setup you need to open your Plex Media Server through its local IP.
If you’re on the same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser. If you’re on a different machine inside your home network, use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead. This will bring up a wizard/dialog where you can name your server and link it to your Plex account (as well as creating your first libraries).

Once you “claimed” your server (=linked it to your Plex Media Account), you’ll also be able to access it from other Plex apps or via http://app.plex.tv/desktop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have tried accessing the 127 address from the same machine in my browser but it won’t connect at all and neither will it connect on a remote computer using the other address you listed.

Can you verify the server is actually running?
If it is, you should see a Plex icon in the system tray of the windows machine hosting your Plex Media Server.

Yes it’s definitely running with the icon in the lower right corner. When I open it it takes me to a 127 address with a token value but it does not load the interface.

What exactly do you get to see instead?
Any error messages?

127.0.0.1 refused to connect - cannot reach this page.

I downloaded the 64 bit version maybe I downloaded the wrong thing!

Are you running some VPN on the machine that might have messed up the Windows default network configuration?
Do you get the same result if you use http://localhost:32400/web or a different browser instead?

Wierd enough I just removed it, installed it again, and it took me to the setup screen this time. I’m not sure what it was but it appears to be working now.

Thank you!
