I’m having an issue when Plex server is running I’m unable to access SMB shares on my unraid server.
If plex is not running I can access all shares, copy files to/from, etc. If I start a file transfer and launch Plex after about 10 seconds the file transfer will fail. At that point I can no longer access any of the shares on Unraid. When I lose access it’s only to the SMB shares. I can still ping the Unraid server and login to the webui.
Things I’ve tried:
Rollback to previous version
Disable remote access
Disable Plex relay option
Changed all my libraries to point to a local folder
I spoke too soon. I accidentally left automatic updates enabled which installed the latest version and broke SMB again. I tried rolling back to 1.26.1.5772 again but SMB remains broken…
Do you have any 3rd-party antivirus or security running, on either the Windows system or Unraid? I wonder if it’s getting backlogged when PMS scans for files.
The Plex logs agree - Plex is scanning media and files, and then the drive becomes unavailable.

If it isn’t something like that, you may need an Unraid expert to make suggestions. Plex makes a large number of filesystem requests, but nothing that should cause a fileserver to stop responding.
So theoretically if I change the path to all my libraries to a dummy local folder then Plex should stop all communications with unraid, right? As a test I did this. Then I closed PMS, waited for SMB to work again and launched PMS. Once again I lost access to Unraid shares even though I removed all Unraid SMB locations from my library configuration.
