I have a Western Digital My Cloud Home 4TB NAS server with Plex Media Server (service version 1.18.6.2350) and to configure my Plex, I have tried logging into my Plex account both as an Admin (via specific email and password) and as a normal user (via my Google credentials). When using the web interface, I am using Plex Web 4.55.0. Under the tabs: “Movies”, “Music” or “TV Series”, there are three dots that used to cause a pop-up to appear, where I could select “Scan files” or something similar in nature (I forget the exact wording) - now there is no way to re-scan my files anymore, rendering Plex totally worthless, except for playing already scanned content. Is this some elaborate strategy to try to get me to pay for a pro licence or is it just a bug???
I suppose you were clicking on the ... more button where you can play/shuffle your library or add it to the play queue / a playlist.
Use the ⋮ context menu next to the library header or the library navigation item to scan that library.
Scan Library Files from the library header
Scan Library Files from the library navigation item
Alternatively you can scan each library (or all) from Settings > [Server Name] > Manage > Libraries.
Also… you might want to upgrade the Plex Media Server on your WD My Cloud. Version 1.18.6 had been released back in January 2020. The latest release is 1.22.2…
