Plex cannot access folders on NAS after upgrading to Synology DSM 7

Hi,
My plex media server is installed on a separate pc, and the Synology NAS is used as a storage for library only.

After upgrading to DSM7, my plex media server can no longer find the folders stored on NAS. I have searched the forum and changed the permission under Shared Folders so “plex” now has full control over the relevant folders. Both NAS and the PC (where plex media server is installed) are rebooted after the permission is changed. However plex still can’t see the folders stored on NAS.

Please help.

Thanks

Are they mapped drives on the PC?
From the PC can you access the folders on the NAS?

Hi,
they are not. But all of the setting remain the same “before and after” the upgrade. And plex was able to access those NAS folders when it was still running on DSM 6.XX.

The path of the folder on plex is: “\Name of Nas\the folder that contains the content\movie (for example”.

thanks

Having a similar issue here.
Running Plex on my DS918+
Tried resetting permissions of system users as well for the entire share used for media and files unavailable.
Applications running in docker can still access the files without issue.

Plex Version 1.23.6.4881
DSM 7.0-41890

Check out the DSM 7 pinned topics here: Topics tagged server-synology

What you’re hitting is a known change in the Synology\Plex setup and the adjustments you’ll want to make can be found in those pinned topics about Plex and DSM 7.

Usually what you’re missing is just a manual adjustment to a new Plex user account and that’s all covered there pretty well and the dev is VERY responsive.

thanks for the information, but i have also read that post “Synology - DSM 7 Release - Plex Installation Issues”. However it refers to the scenario where both plex media server and the libraries are stored on NAS. The post doesn’t talk about the setup i have, which the plex media server is installed elsewhere (eg a separate pc) and only use NAS as storage. In any case, I will keep searching for answer from the pinned topics you shared,

Thanks

Thanks nydave69. I tried your method by mapping the NAS network driver to the windows, and reinsert password, and then select the network drive from the drop down list, it then worked!

Not sure why I didn’t have to map the network when it was running on DSM6.xx and plex was still able to access the folders previously. But am happy it is now working!

Thanks
