Synology ds920+ dsm7 fresh hardware can't use plex 1.25

Hi all,

I just bought and setup my first syno (ds920+).
I did add my library and tried to install plex media server from Both syno app store pr manual install using plex’s latest version !

Both are failing to access my storage…
I tried to use a différent folder than /homes/…, I’m using a /volume1/library folder. I also fixed the permissions but nothing is working…

You must give PlexMediaServer access to the media

  1. Control panel - Shared Folders - Click the shared folder → EDIT
  2. Permission tab
  3. ADD “System Internal User” (click Local user dropdown to show), ‘PlexMediaServer’.
  4. Give it whatever permissions you wish.

Sadly, that’s exactly what I did (on multiple shares), as suggested at install, with no results..

Do not use QuickConnect to setup Plex.

Use the LAN IP of the NAS.

AFTER you setup Plex then you can use it.

DSM QuickConnect causes a REMOTE connection. Default Plex security blocks this.
