Plex can't be enabled on WD my Cloud Home

Thanks for the advice. It made me want to take a nap–LOL. Added bonus, after that last firmware update (6/16), none of my machines are backing up because the MyCloud no longer has a device name so I’m prioritizing that. BTW “kludgy” was a much politer term than the one running through my head as I was troubleshooting this.

Initially I had uglier thoughts too… In my case the new version of Plex cleared up many issues I was having with my media library, so I softened my viewpoint after getting it working. The newer plex server is much more stable and behaves far better than the old one did.

my bad, the editor doesn’t like things that look like HTML tags

Heard from WD today. They said the fix is in “firmware update 8.6.2…that addresses the issues with the timeouts that you have experienced.” It is to be OTA in the next day or two and will require a reboot of the MyCloud Home. We shall see…

I JUST bought the Cloud Home, and this is really frustrating. It needs to be fixed soon or I’m going to just return it.

Happy to report that this firmware update fixed the Plex problem. Plex enabled quickly, updated metafiles and is running like a top in less than 30 minutes. Yahoo!

How to force a firmware update? I have version 7.16.0-220

They come “over-the-air” OTA, unannounced. I get a notification on my phone when one is complete–I assume because I have the mobile app. And I just happened to know about this one in advance because the WD tech support person I worked with gave me a heads up that it would start rolling out on 6/23. I don’t know how to force one–surely there is a way. Maybe here: Software and Firmware Downloads | WD Support
