Plex categories issue

I had my interface set to English, but recently—because my mom doesn’t understand English—I switched it to French. Since then, Plex has been bugging out.

Let me explain. Now, when I go to Categories, I see duplicates. For example, I have COMEDY and COMEDIES. The main issue is that the movies inside the English categories and the French categories are not the same.

I only noticed this when I was looking for a horror movie and realized I was missing a bunch of movies for no reason. That’s when I realized that some categories exist in both languages.

So:

  • How do I get back to one single category per genre? I don’t care if it’s in French or English.
  • How do I reset it so that the movies present in the other category are merged into the one that will remain?

I was able to find a solution, thanks ChatGPT.

So, you go to the category you want to remove and click on it. You’ll see all the movies in that category.

Next, click the little yellow box in the top-left corner of the first poster to select it. Then go to the last poster, hold Shift on your keyboard, and click the same box to select everything in between.

once you do, in the middle top you should have this

click the pen for EDIT, find the category and change it by the one in the language you want to keep

You probably didn’t change the interface language, but the library metadata language.
After doing this, you should Refresh Metadata of the whole library.
