Plex Certificate "404" -- Unable to obtain Certificate from cloud

Looks like we are all good now!
Thanks!

@ChuckPa
Although I’m not getting 404 errors specifically, I am seeing similar cert related errors to others on the forum and have exactly the same symptoms.
Can I possibly get a cert reset? Assuming that works I can post my logs if you’d like to take a look in to possibly another cause of this issue.

Thanks so much!

@Kolby_G

Certificate reset.
Restart the server

Thank you!
That appears to have resolved my issue. I’m going to do some more testing tomorrow, but so far my TV and tablet can both connect again.
Just to confirm, I did NOT have any instance of 404 in my logs, but it seems that clearing the cert did resolve the issue. I’ll post my full log file tomorrow once I verify that everything is indeed working.

@Kolby_G

no need to post the log if it’s resolved. We are aware of other issues from that outage. The 404 error with some 429 errors were the most prevalent

Hello, My server is down as well, any help would be greatly appreciated

@Erics347

Your server (the Desktop one) is showing it has a valid certificate and is talking to Plex.tv

Please make certain you have DEBUG logging enabled, VERBOSE logging disabled, Restart the server, Wait 1 minute, Confirm you don’t have access to it, then download the logs — OR – manually make a ZIP of the Logs directory and attach it after attempting access.

Hey @chuckpa I have also been experiencing this issue, can you kick my certificate?
Thank you!

Hello @chuckpa could you please fix my certificate issue?

EDIT: Never-mind, I just nuked Preferences.xml and it all worked after resharing everything with all the users and redoing all other preferences. I got impatient.

Another update: don’t do this unless you are fine with resetting all device’s home screen. With Android App you have to untick everything and then it will allow you to reset the home screen.

Another issue is that you have to delete the old server from the list in your plex.tv page.

HI what do you mean by nuked your Preferences.xml ?

This:

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server# mv Preferences.xml Preferences.xml.backup

Warning: this is a nuclear option.

Hey @chuckpa ! Can you help me please ! I’ve got the same issue, imossible since 2 days to remote . It green to red after few seconds.
Could you help me ?

Hey @chuckpa it seems that many people are having their service back when you are reseting the certificat. Could you try with mine please ? :slight_smile:Plex Media Server Logs_2020-10-03_10-16-28.zip (1.7 MB)

Sorry for double post, but i had forget the log ! :slight_smile:

I believe most of the “no remote access” posts made recently actually are related to this issue.
This is a certificate revocation/renewal stuff up, and I believe end users should get a button to “reset certificates” on their end so @chuckpa does not do it for every single user (hundreds? all of them?) manually.

EDIT/UPDATE: it looks like the cert issue does not fix the flapping Remote Access status, but that might be unrelated. The remote access works even if it goes red once in a while.

@ChuckPa I reviewed my logs and found the line :
ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 404
Could you kick my certificate please ?

donde activo el DEBUG y desactivo VERBOSE no me sale en ningun lado en configuracion

Hey @ChuckPa I know this is a linux server thread, but I’m receiving the same error on my windows server. Could you assist?
