To change the recording folder in Plex DVR settings, follow these steps:
4 Change Recording Folder
Look for the “Recording Directory” or similar option.
Browse and select the new folder where you want recordings to be saved.
I can’t find the Recording Directory or anything similar.
I want to save the videos recorded during the day and then move them to a library for future viewing.
Where did you get that text at the top? It sounds like the AI summary that google spews out, with inaccurate info.
Near as I can tell, you can specify the LIBRARY that a show or movie records to in the “Live TV and DVR” menu in your Plex server. When you click to set up a recording, one of the options in the first screen asks you where to place the recordings. Specifically, it says “ADD TO LIBRARY”.
This should place the recording in the root of the folder that the Library is set to monitor. For me, I created a “DVR - SHOWS” Library, pointing to my /media/DVR - Shows/ in my storage. So a newly created recording goes to /media/DVR - Shows/NEW_SHOW_HERE. You can create an empty folder somewhere, make a new library pointing to this folder, and select that when you record something.
Then, at your whim, do what you are going to do to the file, them move them to another folder later. Unpin this mostly-empty library from your client’s lists, and ignore it otherwise.
Yes copilot could describe things better. I’m used to BeyondTV which puts all videos in the same folder with no show/season folders. I made the mistake to setting my library on a nas.
So I ended up watching and recording to the same library which caused heavy network traffic. I used to record to a PC strip commercials then move the file to the nas.
I will make the record library on the PC and at later move to the nas library.
Thanks for your response.
