Plex client does not show "Other Videos" posters in the library view

Player Version#: 9.31.0.3817

When using my Android phone client or Nvidia Shield client:

  • Posters do not show up the library view for Other Videos library. An image automatically taken from the video is what is displayed in this view instead of the poster.
  • Posters do show up in the web browser
  • Posters do show up when I click into the video (just not in the library view)

I have about 200 folders in “Other videos”. Each of these folders has one video file and one folder.jpg.

The library has the following settings selected:

  • Scanner: Plex Video Files Scanner
  • Agent: Personal Media
  • Unselected “Enable Video Preview Thumbnails”

This works great in a web browser and the Windows Plex client–just not in the two android clients (phone and Nvidia Shield).

Any help or pointers would be appreciated!

This a known issue in our backlog. Sorry I do not have an ETA for it to be fixed.

Hello, do you have an update for this as it has been over 12mths since you reported this to the Dev team and still it is not resolved?

The posters of Other Videos will not update in the Android app on mobile devices and also on Shield. Please help.

Bumping because I have the same issue as OP, and there’s not been any update or movement on this. I’d hate for this thread to just be closed automatically.

Also have this issue.
Seems to only affect Android or Google Devices.
Posters for “Other Videos” for me work as expected on iOS devices, in any web browser, and the Windows app.
We only have one AndroidTV and one GoogleTV, but they both exhibit the same broken behavior.

Going to check two Vizio tvs since they have their own OS which pretty much never updates and see what they do.

Similarly finding this a problem on both Shield TV & Android Mobile - quite frustrating as it works everywhere else.

Issue still exists on Plex Android app version 10.22.0.1559, as of Sept 24, 2024.

Issue still persists on Plex Android app version 10.23.0.1627 (f8f7bc73). Issue also exists and persists on Plex app on Chromecast with Google TV.

I am going to bump this because there is ALSO a general android-tv bug that has been plaguing plex for all ART being servered from the linux docker image.
