Hi iv searched the forums but can’t find an answer, iv started trying to use the auto collections feature but a lot of the movies I know have the movie database collection metadata don’t create a new collection. They just stay as the same old one I created. Do I need to delete and re add the whole library for it to work or is there a workaround?

There is a threshold selector in the properties of your library. It is set to 2 by default, AFAIR, because
a collection with only one member is a bit nonsensical, isn’t it?

Refresh Metadata of the whole library.

The threshold is set to 1 at the moment and I have refreshed the metadata twice, it does Create some new collections but films like aliens or Star Wars don’t create the new movie database collections collection

Edit your Star Wars movie(s). Is the input field for “Collection” locked?
If it is, it won’t be changed by a metadata refresh.

If you want to start over with all your collections, you need to unlock all of those collection fields in your database at once. But there is no easy way to achieve that.
You could delete and recreate the library.

If you rather don’t want to do that, here is a way to unlock the collection fields at once: Reset all manual poster selections in a library at once
(you want to set collection.locked=0)

Keep in mind though that this might leave empty duplicate collections in your library.

Awesome that’s sorted the issue but to be honest trying to unlock all the tags boxes in one may be a little behind me unless you have a good tutorial for it

So I have managed to remove the collections lock and refreshed the metadata but not all collections seem to auto create. For example the Alien movies haven’t created a collection but the alien vs predator movies did. Any ideas?

try this program called Plex Meta Manager. It is great for collections and allows you more control over the process. GitHub - meisnate12/Plex-Meta-Manager: Python script to update metadata information for movies, shows, and collections as well as automatically build collections.
