Plex confusing actors with the same name.

the actor Will Smith is a well known black actor that have been in many movies. but, there is also a second Will Smith who is white. so when a saw a white will smith as the lead actor in I, Robot I got confused.

how can I fix this?

Refresh Metadata on a movie in your library which has the black Will Smith in its cast.

Oh no, it creeping up again…

hm, strange. what picture will smith has depend on if I updated a will smith movie latest or the movie paddington. either way apparently will smith is in the movie paddington. but even more interestingly the will smith actor in paddington have the correct portrait… strange world we live in.

Looks like plex uses the name of the actor as a primary key or an index in the DB. Causing errors like this. I’m having this same issue, but it is with the actor Robert Taylor (1911 - 1969) and Robert Taylor (1963 - ).

In the movie Quo Vadis (1951) he shows up like this:

In the movie Matrix (1999) its like this:

If i refresh metadata on Quo Vadis the image shown for both movies will be the old Robert Taylor, if i do the same with Matrix, the image shown will be the new Robert Taylor. And if i filter by Actor, i get both as result:

(new Robert Taylor for context)
