Plex connection - app smart tv samsung

Server Version#:1.21.0.3711
Player Version#: smarttv Samsung app v.2013

Hi all, I arrived at my second home this weekend and I see plex doesn’t work on my samsung smart tv, I reinstalled the app and now the app says to give me the code to link to my plex account, but the code never appears, and no possible to sign in my user account.
So, if Plex take out the old samsung tv this way, why the android mobile app dont let to stream to the same smat tv? some other streaming app let the conection by dlna, as f.i. netflix app for android. why not connect to the smart tv through dlna with plex mobile app??

thanks in advance,
Regards.

fantastic, I am going to try, thanks!

I get an error on TV screen at the end of installation with Sammy Widgets 1.1, maybe my TV has a smarthub version that it dont let to install an app from samy widgets? The process of instalation is watched on the screen up to it give error of instalation, go to samsung tvsecurityapp, initially it has been installed after a reset of smart hub and I have been able to conect to plex app but suddenly the app has disappeared. Dont know how to install plex version patched by orca… thanks anyway, samsung is doing very idiot strategy, they think we have no more option than the TV to play with Plex?? Very sad, next time I will buy a good quality screen TV and not for its apps…

Try and uninstall existing, followed by a power down, and unplug the powercord on the tv for at least 5 min.

Then try again

Hi, I guess it will be not possible to get an app dont give the security error installing from sammy widgets. The app you give me version 2012 doesnt work yet on my smart tv, samsung has made changes on my smart hub, and some other app has dissapeared from my smart hub. really a pittyness

Have you followed the instructions here?

With sideloading from sammywidgets the extra step of recreating the zip-File is essential.

If you had Version 2.013 installed, the custom version with proxy enabled should be working on your TV.

I wanted to provide a quick answer to the problem of not being able to connect to your Plex server from an older Samsung TV. Mine is a D class from 2011, and I am using Plex Server 4.43.4, and the latest available Plex app for that model (1.019).

On your Plex server, go to [Settings] and open the [Network] section.

The “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” option, allows you to identify devices that can access your Plex server without authentication (Duh!). Add a network range that covers your home network, and your TV’s of course.

e.g.
192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

This would allow anything on your network where the IP address starts with 192.168.0… Use your own network setting if they are different.

Any device connected to your home network will be able to access your Plex server and play content.

If your server is logged into Plex.tv, it will also work for your other logged in devices outside of your network (e.g. Phone while not at home). It should also work for other logged in users of Plex if they already have access (not tested this).

If your needs are simple, this should be enough get your TVs back on Plex without much fuss.

BTW, i havnt read enough of the forums to know if this has been suggested before, or if it will work for everyone. For me it works fine and wanted to share with other non-techies who want a simple, most likely non-perfect answer.
