Plex Connection issue 20-30 times a day

Hi,

I have weird issue recently, ever since the quarantine most of my user family’s and friends (100 or so) are streaming almost non stop. The problem started after latest apple tv app update stoped working with PMS 1.18.xxxx and below. On 1.14.xxxx everything was manageable with connection issue happening once or few times a week only. The Plex server it self doesn’t crash but the connection just times out and only way to fix it is by stoping PMS clearing caches along with certificates and the restarting Plex. I’ve read some where that is might be due to Plex.tv hidden dns relay bandwidth limit. Any help would be much appreciated.

No idea about the connection issues.

If you’re referring to the Plex Relay service, the bandwidth limits are documented, not hidden.

When using Plex Relay, Plex Pass users are limited to 2 Mbps. Non-Plex Pass users are limited to 1 Mbps.

If access via Plex Relay is causing issues for your server, you can disable it in Settings → Network (Show Advanced). This was introduced with PMS 1.18.5.2260.

Hi, thank you for reply. Yeah I’m aware of Plex relay and its limit but even with it disabled instill experience multiple connection issue where connection times out multiple times a day and only clearing cache and certificates fixes the issue, but at same time creating a new user and with same hw/sw and similar number of clients there is no issue. Which leads me to believe there is another bandwidth limit per username aside from relay. Also enabling relay with 2mb limits means forcing all to transcode to 720p/2mb which would drastically increase cpu usage.
