Plex Constantly Loses Remote Access

I had to turn of Tautulli remote access notifications as it was driving me mad.

Having the same problem. Remote access turns off/on for a minute every hour ro so.

Having this issue as well, several times a day Plex loses remote access and I have to turn it off and on again.

Yep, same problem here. Had to turn the Tautulli notifications off before I went insane haha.

I’m also manually port forwarding but that’s been working fine for months.

If I leave the ‘Plex > settings > Remote access’ window open (I don’t believe this specific window matters I just had it open) it’ll error every few minutes stating “Unable to Connect securely” … give it a few minutes and it’ll be able to connect again.

My ‘Plex > Network > Secure Connections’ is set to ‘Preferred’ and I believe always has…

Something weird going on at Plex’ end?

Edit:
For reference i’m also on Plex Version 1.18.9.2571

Issues can be looked into and investigated if I have logs from the server covering the time when Remote Access is lost - together with screenshots showing the router setup / remote access plex media server advanced settings -

router screenshots would be for port forward, dhcp reservation and also need confirmation that the wan ip address showing on the router is the one that gets displayed by external sites such as canyouseeme.org

If remote access continues to be a problem for your setup, keep in mind it doesn’t affect everyone that runs PMS. Make sure you’re reading through entire relevant threads, including this one, and include server and client side logs as @sa2000 mentioned.

That being said, I previously struggled with PMS losing remote access for almost a year until @sa2000 worked with me and suggested a token refresh. To my surprise, it completely fixed the problem - remote access has been reliable ever since. See post above which outlines these steps:

I would just like to chime in that I am having similar problems as well. It has been a consistent issue for the past month on all current Plex Server versions.

Resetting the token didn’t resolve the issue for me, however I’ve just updated to the latest server beta and it hasn’t come up in 4ish hours. Fingers crossed it’s gone!

/edit scratch that! Just happened D:

Yip, me too. Version 1.19.1.2589 is still doing it.

Just saying there is a problem will not help getting the problem investigated and cause identified - please see my earlier post

I have removed my ISP router and moved my Google WiFi to the edge. i.e. No Double NAT. This has resolved my issue - something I have meaning to do. Although I have been running Double NAT for approx 1-2 years.

Having same issue on 1.19.1.2645 today.

Logs please

and details of port forward / dhcp reservation

The latest beta 1.19.2.2673 seems to have resolved the issue for me.

Had this issue starting last night, surprised this thread is 2 years old. I also just updated to 1.19.2.2673. So far have not been spammed constantly.

Having this issue since about a week back. All started when I migrated my Plex to a new system. Remote access will drop after a while for no apparent reason. I had Tautulli running but shut it down to troubleshoot. I also had a range-extender to my Orbi RBR850-router that was spamming some UPnP-garbage all the time which I switched off. All to no avail as the Remote Access still keeps dropping out intermittently.
Currently running:
Windows 10 Pro x64 v.1909
Plex Version 1.19.2.2702
Strangely, if I try to connect to the external IP/Port/Web from an external network, like with an Android phone through 4G, I can access and play content, albeit it feels slower. Latest disconnect happened about 5 minutes before I grabbed the logs.
Please assist, I’m at my wits end!

Thank you for the logs and screenshots. I have given a diagnostic debug build of 1.19.2 to a number of users to get some extra information to help locate the bug that is causing remote access to drop on 1.19.2 as showing in your logs.

I suspect a change in 1.19.2 that is causing this specific issue

The fix of the regression in earlier 1.19.2 beta has now been released in beta 1.19.2.2737

  • (Remote Access) Online status in the web client could erroneously show it as offline (#11449)

This does not appear fixed to me. I noticed this recently, but didn’t think it was important, since my family could still access everything. I just checked, and I still see this happening. If I ‘retry’ it goes green for a few seconds, and then it goes red again.

The fix is only for the 1.19.2 regression

Logs please when it happens and details of any port forward if setup / security software and does canyouseme.org get through your public IP address and public port ?
