Plex Desktop App - Removing Sort and View Options Users Want and Need

The new version of the Plex PC App is a disaster. Now you cannot sort by folders and have it remain and once you get to folders mode, you cannot use anything but summary view. Apparently PLEX thinks it’s much better to have a cluttered and useless screen that looks cool than for their application to be actually useful. Was told this is not a bug but an INTENTIONAL change. Isn’t a customizable user experience the PURPOSE behind a UI? I have a huge film library divided up so I can find things. With the new restrictions it takes a long time to find what I want and it is supremely annoying. If Plex wants to bully it’s users into doing things the way they want, not how the users need, they will find themselves without users.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!
I have a HUGE movie library. Over 7000 to date, with thousands more to add. That’s not even counting TV Episodes. Up until the last update, I could sort by ‘folders’ and then go into a ‘grid’ view. Now it’s not available. This makes it extremely time consuming to find what I’m looking for. Of all the updates, some bad, but mostly good, this one has totally screwed-up my whole Plex experience. In all the years that I’ve had Plex, I have never once thought about exploring other options. Now it has me thinking……

Over the past few years, beginning with the introduction of the UNO interface, it became apparent to me that whoever was behind the changes to the PLEX interface had never used it or managed data before. As a result, the changes inexplicably removed basic functionality instead of enhancing it. Such develoution is the product of an inexperienced and disorganized mind. A good analogy would be putting a student (kid) in charge of organizing the school library. That’s what it feels like to me.
