Hi,
I´m in the process of trying out Plex on my Synology DS918+ (running DSM 6.2). When I try to add a movie or TV show library I get the message “There are no objects in this library”. I have searched the forum and found that others have had similar problems and I have tried to follow all suggestions to solve the issue wihout any success. I have set the permissions for the plex user account to have R/W access to all my media folders. I have also followed the naming convention for Plex (see attached screen copy).
Plex has no issue creating a library for my music collection or creating an “other video” library for my You tube collection. I did try to create an “other video” library for my movie/TVshow collections without success. It seems like plex does not “see” any files in my movie or TV show folders. Synologys own Video station app has no problem detecting the media files in the movie/Tv show folders and did a good job downloading metadata for my collections. I am now close to give up on Plex since I cannot figure out what is wrong. Does anyone haven an idea what is wrong? I am attaching a Plex log file if this is of any help.
So Plex has no permission to even read the whole /volume1/video/ subfolder. So dig down in your Synology settings and update the permissions to at least read access for every user. Maybe you can copy what you gave to the music mount, I am not a Synology user at all so no clue what is possible.
You are right it is Video Station that causes the problems. I tested by moving a movie to a new Media folder and then it works all right. I guess I just have to raarrnage my media files.
For some reason the Synology app Video station has created a “permission denied” for the two subfolders Movie and Tv show. Everything works fine once I move my media to a new shared Media folder.
The weird thing is that it is only the subfolders Movie and Tv show that plex do not have permission for. There is another subfolder “You Tube” that Plex has permissions for.
