I’ve had a larger Plex server on my NAS with Unraid for some time.
As a Plex server I use the original version of Plex itself from the store.
I now have a library of about 4TB and 250 files of movies and 400 episodes. I wanted to add a new series now, but only the first season and half of the second season were recognized, although everything was named according to the same scheme. Then I removed the first two seasons, but they weren’t replaced by others. Then I added some new movies. Unfortunately, these were also no longer recognized. If I currently let Plex search the media library for new files, it is no longer the same as it used to be, so that even if there is nothing new, it searches for a while and shows me in a line what it is currently scanning, but it starts to load briefly ended after 1 second.
Either naming, folder structure, or permissions are probably at fault.
If you include screenshots of the files/directories we can double check
The names are definitely not the problem. I have a folder that is only named “Title - S02 E…”. with this, only the first 6 of 11 titles are recognized. So this is not a possibility.
In the meantime I thought there could only be X amount of movies in Plex. So I removed a 150 episode series from the folder that Plex is accessing. However, a new file has not been entered into Plex. However, when I put the series back into the plex folder, it was correctly and completely recognized again.
Naming & Organizing Your TV Show Files
If the folder, not file, is named like that, then it is incorrect.
Rename to match Plex naming requirements, then Plex Dance the show.
/TV Shows <-- folder added to TV show library
.../Show Name (Intro Year)
....../Season XX <-- "Season" in English
........./Show Name (Intro Year) sXXeYY.ext <-- sXXeYY required
No limit.
I have the same problem when I try to create a music library, many of the discs are not recognized
