Plex does not recognize the file name

Server Version#: Version 4.22.3

I have video course in mp4 format. Each file is named after the lesson.
However in Plex I only get a date as the name of the “episode”

I’ve created my library with the following parameters.

Settings>Agents:

Settings for the library:

Folder structure:
Main folder>Main Course name>Course section ##>S##E## Episode name

eg: Accounting Courses>Taxes Masterclass>Taxes Masterclass 08 Understanding Company structures>S08E26 Sole trader structure.mp4

I thought this organisation would be enough for Plex to display “Sole trader Structure” as the episode name. But it displays a date instead. I suspect it’s the date the file was created.

So here’s what Plex displays

Any assistance in getting the filename to be what Plex displays as the episode name will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Use other videos

I have tried that with no success. Is there a specific way to do it?

May have to have Local assets agent enabled in server settings, you may have to do plex dance as you have previously tried

May help.

I find that replacing with in some of my files helps too.

Thank you for your reply @bearhntr. but, I don’t understand what you meant :frowning:

Also, I’ve had countless reads of that support article, but I’m not able to fully make sense of everything.

This is very frustrating to the point that I’m thinking of cancelling my Plex Pass and just watching things the old fashion way :frowning:

Kilotr,

PLEX PASS has nothing to do with this. It is all about the naming.

When you are navigating the library in PLEX, how far down do you get before they go wanky?

Meaning it could be that you have them as TV - it is looking for them the TV Database online. If you are navigating the list, does it show the top most directory level, then the next, then the next, etc.?

Have you tried using OTHER VIDEOS?
