Plex & DSM 7.0 - What happened to my indivdual folders in 'add library' guys?

Depending on how much “uninstalling & deleting” you’ve done,
we might be able to find something on the NAS (your metadata)

The Plex share and user “Plex” are no longer needed in DSM 7.
(DSM 7 forced a change so I chose PlexMediaServer to match the app name).

At this point, also knowing what is about to release, I’d like you to step into the new package structure I have.

My reason for this is two fold.

  1. If you have metadata stored in the DSM hidden area, We can pull it back
  2. You’ll be all setup in the new structure and ready to go when it does release in the next “few-ish” days (I expect PMS 1.24.2 to have it… but no promises until I check)

I’d like you to install my new “Packaging 2.0” version.

You’ll see:

  1. There is a “PlexMediaServer” shared folder now – so you can make backups
  2. It will also allow for VERY CAREFUL limited editing in emergency cases via the GUI.
  3. You’ll also see where I pasted a plethora of warnings about not putting media anywhere in that shared folder structure because it will cause PMS to blow up when mistakes are made.

Please read here then scroll down and get the SPK for your Syno and perform a Manual Install.

Let me know what you have after that.

You’ll either have your existing server instance (meaning you didn’t zero it all)
-or-
You’ll start fresh

Please read my notes carefully.
