PLEX DVR cannot find my HDHR device

I noticed this week PLEX neglected to record Fargo :frowning: and when I go into the server on my PC I see the DVR simply disappeared all on its own. When I click on “Setup PlexDVR”, it just keeps looking for the HDHR device forever and never finds it. The device works fine in the HDHR app and other live TV apps. Plex is the only thing that can’t see it. Anyone else?

No update on this? I see this is from June 17, my system just did this about a week ago (July 11, 2018).

I’d recommend restarting both the HDHR and the server, and attempting to set it up again. Let us know how you go!

I ended up starting a new thread as this one quite old.

I have restarted both the server and the HDHR. I have repaired the plex installation and reinstalled the plex server. All to no avail. It still won’t work.

Could also be with ensuring you’re using the latest server version, and that the firmware is up to date on your HDHR.

Both HDHR firmware and the PMS server are at the latest versions.

I have rebooted the HDHR, my switch, my PC (running plex).

Can you confirm the actual version numbers, rather than just “latest”? What platform is your server on (Windows, macOS, Linux)? Are they both on the same subnet?

Sorry, yes, I can confirm the latest numbers.

PMS: 1.13.4.5251
HDHR5-2US: 20180327

Windows 10 Pro, Version 1803.

I believe the Windows 1803 update came out around the same time, so I’m wondering if it’s something related to that

It could also be some third party software on your machine interfering with detecting the HDHR.

Could you attempt to add the DVR, and then share the logs from the Media Server, please?

I am not too sure what it was, but I uninstalled Plex. After that, I went through and deleted all of the registry entries related to plex that were left behind.

I then rebooted and reinstalled Plex. Then stepped through the DVR setup and everything is working correctly.

Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear it’s working for you now!

I am having the same issue that @bpenberthy had and have tried everything you recommended without the correct result. Really don’t want to have to nuke my whole Plex setup just to get my DVR back. Please advise.

Could you provide some Plex Media Server logs from when you try to add the tuner?

I would be glad to but at the moment I’m waiting to hear back about what I’d been directed to do in this thread: Plex Will No Longer Add HDHomeRun as DVR

It was suggested to repair the database only I’m stuck at the step of re-importing the SQL to the new database. From what I read, I’m worried that if I try loading Plex that it will bork my setup completely.

I was having a very similar issue after the recent upgrade to the latest version, my steps to resolve include. 1 - Downloading the channel fixer,Channel Fixer , and pointing it to the location of the db it populates 2 -Then using the button at the bottom I was able to remove all Tuner dvr data. 3 - Closing PMS from the task bar, i relaunched PMS and was greeted to a popup stating it has found an HDhomerun device and, would i like to setup DVR?

My HDHomerun Dual no longer is found as a dvr device. I just tried using Channel Fixer to erase previous dvr data without success. Is it possible that the something changed in the server software such that the Dual legacy firmware no longer works with the latest Plex server?

Disregard: I’ve just spent an hour realizing that the server interface was connected to the “Remote” version of my server. This version reflected all the information which was on a previous computer which I no longer use and thus nothing worked including the tuner. Huh, what? Anyway, changing over to the “Nearby” server which is my current computer fixed everything.
