Plex DVR channel search recognition not working for AVM FritzBox 6591 DVBC

I have the same problem. 918+ Synology, aVM 6591. I moved my flat. Now it found the tuner, the channels, but cannot open it. I got the channel list from my provider. The Plex system shows me a list that i cannot find find at the server and change. I change them into the past. It was working. But now i need to know, where is finding the actual channel list, which i can change with my channels?
Best regards

AS Additional. I use the newest Plex Server 1.25.5.5173 on DSM7. I tested it with an older version. These was found 1 channel and with it works correct and open it. The error is only find by plex

Hello, I bought PlexPass Lifetime 2 days ago as I was told (by others) that I can use the DVR with my Fritzbox 6591 for cable TV. Plex is running on my Synology NAS (916+) and I currently use TVMosaic (on NAS) with a TVButler USB stick (TVMosaic would also work with the Fritzbox 6591). However, the company behind TVMosaic closed last year and the TVButler USB stick will not be supported on DSM 7 anymore (I’m currently still on DSM 6 for that reason). So I hoped that Plex would be the way to go.
However, Plex detects the TVButler stick and my 6591 router but doesn’t find any channels on the TVButler stick and only 10 radio stations on the Fritzbox 6591 :-(.
Even if I get TVButler to work it will stop working once I upgrade to DSM 7. So that’s not a solution. And if Plex does not support SAT>IP then I don’t need a PlexPass as DVR was the only reason to buy it.
So I will try to contact Plex support if I can cancel my Lifetime PlexPass again.

Does anybody have a working suggestion for a DVR on Synology NAS with DVB-C (Cable TV) that works with a Fritzbox 6591 router from AVM?

NAS 920+ and 6490 cable works fine.

Which Plex Version and Cable Provider do you use?

Provider Vodafone, Plex server is v1.24.5.5173.

But Plex support already answered to my request and luckily decided to give me a refund! So I’m out of here for now and will look for a working DVR solution for my NAS which supports SAT>IP. Seems most except Plex do, tried TVheadend but didn’t succeed in configuring it on my Synology.

Best workaround is:

  • downgrade to a working version e.g. 1.20
  • do the channelsearch
  • upgrade to a current version

all is working fine, until you need a new channelsearch.

Dear Plex Team,

I am running into the same problem using a HD HomeRun Dual in Germany for DVB-C reception.

Running Plex on my Synology NAS yields 9 stations only. For testing I installed PMS on my Windows Machine - where 176 channels were found after performing a channel search with identical settings.

Do you have a suggestion on how to scan for all channels on my NAS?

I am running Plex 1.25.7.5604 on the NAS and 1.25.8.5621 on Windows.

Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone,

unfortunately I’m running into the same problems with my setup that used to work with earlier versions of PMS.

DVB-C by Vodafone (Germany) + AVM FritzBox 6690 + PMS latest release, running on Synology DS1621+.

Channelsearch only returns 2 random or even not a single of the channels, that are available.

Looking forward to your support!
Thanks + keep up the good work!

+1 from my side.

DVR was one of my major reasons to get a PlexPass and it worked like a charm ever since.
Now that I upgraded to an other DS I can’t add my channels anymore.

Yes, Channel-Search seems to be broken on linux-based PMS. (1.25.6-1.25.8)
On weekand i did a Channel-scan on Windows PMS (1.25.10.alpha) - (works fine) and copied it to the DB on my Synology.
after that you can assign the channels, but don’t do the re-scan for the moment.

Awesome! I think I will give this a try!
Could you explain how you copied the channel DB from Windows to Synology?

When using Fritzbox it’s just a nightmare to use with Plex.
Every minute is a waste of time because their is zero support for such “unsupported devices”.
Incomprehensible for me because Fritzbox supports IP-TV standard and lot of devices who also support IP-TV standard (e.g. Panasonic) have absolutely no problem to use FritzBox as DVB-C source. The same even for opensource programs like TVheadend/Kodi which is working without any issues streaming up to 3 streams (even HD) in parallel from my FritzBox.

Please help, channel-scan is broken on linux based systems (Windows works, Synology not)

PM me for logs

Dear Plex,

since I bought the lifetime license, i am expecting support from you to support standard protocols like SAT2IP. If Europe becomes a region w/o interest for you, just tell me and I will look for other solutions

+1 suffering from the same issue - the scanner walks over all the channels (even with custom ini file) but no channels found afterwards
i love the plex pass, but this is major issue for plex-dvr
please have a look towards the changes from 1.2->1.26

Fixed!?

Fixed the issue on my Synology DS720+ in combination with AVM 6690 cable.
Well done. :+1:

Gonna try this tonight

I can confirm it works with the newest Beta on my Synology NAS.

Thank you for fixing this problem.
