Plex DVR not recording shows

My logs are attached

@da2175_verizon.net

I can see at 6:28:05 am this morning the show A Million Little Things is scheduled to record. Then at 10:29:55 am after a guide refresh it is not being scheduled to record because the show is no longer marked as New.

Sep 26, 2018 06:28:05.020 [4568] DEBUG - DVR:Subscription: No match in the library for 'A Million Little Things - E1 - Pilot', grabbing.
Sep 26, 2018 06:28:05.333 [4708] DEBUG - DVR:Grabber: Scheduling 'A Million Little Things - E1 - Pilot' for timed grab at 2018-09-26 22:00:00 (in 55915 seconds)

Sep 26, 2018 10:27:02.558 [4140] DEBUG - Activity: registered new activity 5c4724f6-a938-455d-895b-f8339f6a19f6 - Refreshing guide data

Sep 26, 2018 10:29:55.674 [4276] DEBUG - DVR:Subscription: We want a premiere, and 'A Million Little Things - E1 - Pilot' is an old airing, ignoring.

I am not sure what can be done about this but have sent a message to one of the DVR Engineers.

@cplex-at-home

Your logs only cover 9/26 at 8:31 am until 9/26 at 1:46 pm and I see no references in the logs to the Odd Squad show that you were selected on in the guide screenshot you provided.

Thanks! I will monitor the recordings I have scheduled for today and can provide more logs if needed.

John - I misunderstood your request. Here’s another set of logs and the screen shot. The CBS-Morning news was scheduled to record, but never did. The CW2 - Daybreak was also scheduled to record, but didn’t. These are both part of the “Record all shows”, I manually recorded these shows this morning, but I may have done that after taking the logs.

I just want to note that I am having this same issue. I have been using Plex to record Live TV for over a year with no prior issues and I have made no changes to any part of my network or server, other than keeping up with regular Plex updates. I do not currently have access to my logs to post, but can later on if it will help.

Same issue again today. 5 shows scheduled to record and disappeared after the guide refresh. Had to set each episode to record manually. Logs attached prior to manually adding back each episode.

Almost the same EXACT issue going on here as well (except I’m losing recordings from today, not tomorrow). There are shows showing for “tomorrow”, but once tomorrow becomes the current day, those shows are empty and nothing records. All series show the next ‘new’ episode the following week.

I have two servers - one running Plex 1.13.8.5388 (having issues) and one running Plex 1.13.7.5369 that does not appear to be having issues.

The first server was running the older build and I was having problems accessing it from a Windows 7 host on the local LAN. I could access everything on my remote server, but not the local one. So, I tried upgrading the server to the 1.13.8.5388 build to remedy that, and I believe that’s when the issue with the recordings appeared.

Downgrading the first server to 1.13.7.5369 seems to not only have not corrected anything, but messed up my DVR setup in the process. While I can go to the Guide and select shows and watch them live, Going to Settings -> Server -> Live TV shows no tuner is connected. So, I can not manage my HDHR device or force a guide refresh, AND there is no wizard to add a device. Odd.

Moving the same server from 1.13.7.5639 to 1.13.8.5395 has brought back my HDHR configuration in the Settings area of the web client. There are still no recordings showing for today even though I have multiple series set to record and there are new episodes today.

My series recordings do not limit to a channel or by resolution, partial airings are allowed and I do not add time before or after the window of time that the show airs. My DVR settings are to remove commercials, use the enhanced guide, and do not add extra time at the beginning or end.

I went into my DVR setup in Plex Settings and “unchecked” the ABC HD channel. I refreshed the guide (turned off the enhanced guide). Then, I checked the ABC HD channel again (re-enabled it) and refreshed the guide again.

I now see my recordings for “today”.

I do not know if the steps I executed fixed this issue or if it was from the guide refresh that somehow forced and update or something. My second server is set to record many of the same shows and was experiencing no issues. So, it was either a server version problem or something on this particular server was somehow corrupted in the guide and I was able to force a new copy of it to fully download.

Thanks for the tip, ember. I’ll try that tomorrow if my current idea doesn’t work.
I’ve disabled my nightly guide update. Let’s see if tomorrow’s shows - that currently show up in the recording page, get recorded.
Hoping John comes up with a solution too.

Tonight’s shows that were in the recording tab disappeared. I tried ember1205’s suggestion and they’ve re-appeared. Let’s see if this has fixed the issue. Keeping my fingers crossed. I miss waking up to my recorded news shows.

It worked! Last night & this morning’s shows were recorded correctly. Thank you ember1205.

Glad that it worked for you. My shows from last all -tried- to record. For some reason, this server does not handle recording four shows at once very well and everything ends up garbled, pixelated, and distorted. My other server, which has very similar CPU but a lot more memory (32G versus 8G) has no issues recording that many shows at a time AND running commskip on them.

I have been seeing a similar problem. The old recordings created last year worked fine. Some shows started the new season and 2 have not seen the new episodes. Hawaii 5o and South Park. To fix this I had to delete the record all and create a new one. All new shows show up. This is that same as last year when they released commercial skip, something broke and took a long time to fix. Just go to IMDB and see when the new season starts and set a reminder on your system or smartphone to check your plex recordings.

Same problem showed up for me within the last week or so. Beta build Version 1.13.8.5395 on Windows 10. I removed all channels from both tuners and readded them and it appears to have corrected the issue. Thanks for the work around Ember.

If anyone from Plex is watching, I think your beta build may have a time zone-ish bug. My theory revolves around a test recording I scheduled that I expected to start at 7:30pm MDT this evening. After removing and re-adding my channels and having the EPG re-download that recording now shows, with an error, for tomorrow at 3:30 am. That 8 hour shift sounds like the UTC to MDT shift.

I just started having this problem yesterday. I had set The Gifted and This is Us to record last year and Plex recorded the season premiere fine but last night neither of the second episodes recorded.

Is ANYONE from Plex seeing this thread and have any intention of investigating? While it seems that, for me at least, the problem has been alleviated (for now), I believe that we should understand root cause and determine whether or not something needs to be changed to prevent this from happening again.

I had to go through and re-setup all of my series recordings, since no new episodes were being picked up. I will continue to do so as other new ones come out in the guide.

This is exactly what’s happening to me, and just glad I have setup a backup recording system using PlayOn to grab the free streams. Sometimes a week or two later, but at least we won’t miss something. Changing over from my Tivo is becoming more and more painfull it seems. Rarely did it miss things, but then again the analog DTA50s often had problems so you ended up recording no audio, or distorted audio, or black screens. We like Plex but it’s sure not as smooth.

I was able to fix the problem without having to recreate my recordings by deleting and re-adding the channels from the tuner. That saved me from deleting and recreating shows… and waiting for some to show back up in the guide.

I’m on the beta so it’s hard to really gripe, but maybe this problem is on the regular release channel too.
