I tried the deleting and re-adding the channels from the tuner, but that only seemed to work for one of the programs, but setting up all of the records has fixed the problem for now. I am not on beta.
Same problem for me where shows that were set to record as a series stopped recording. It was somewhat random though as a newly added show recorded but all existing shows did not. Unfortunately going into settings, un-checking the channels, re-adding and the re-downloading the guide did NOT work for me. I had also turned off enhance guide.
Also, for the shows that were to record, deleting the series to record and re-adding did NOT work either for me.
What did seem to work is going to the series and changing resolution from HD only to Any.
Something definitely got borked up around Sept 17…
I just noticed now when I added a second new series to record, that the default resolution is Any (instead of HD). So that seems to be why in my above post why the newly added series recorded, but all of my existing series failed to record.
I am having the same problem, for some reason shows that used to record fine quit recording after the update. Examples would be the new seasons of Bull and Magnum PI on Monday nights. This first happened on Oct. 1. Both shows were in the list to record but didn’t show up the next day and were gone from the list. I researched a little and made sure they were both set up to record all episodes, new and repeat, any resolution. I did set to a specific channel because I don’t want to pick up all the old episodes of Magnum PI that show on other channels. Made sure both were in the list to record on Oct. 8. Again, on Oct. 9, no recordings and no longer in the list. Today I decided to dig a little further and downloaded the logs. Strangely, there are no logs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9. There are other odd blocks of time missing, also, earlier in the year but I didn’t have much set to record until mid-September so no sure if they are really missing or there was just no activity. But I should have had logs for nearly every day in October so far and I don’t. Also, all the logs have different names, how do I know which to look at. There are all kinds of names like com.plexapp.system, Plex Media Server, Plex Media Scanner Analysis, Deep Analysis, Transcoder Statistics, etc. I am running the server, ver. 1.13.8.5395, on my Windows 10 PC. Not sure what to try next, any help would be appreciated.
Plex is remaining silent on this topic, even though it is clearly widespread. What’s worse is that they are doing NOTHING to address an issue that ONLY affects Plex Pass (paying) members.
Had some additional recordings scheduled for tonight, none of them recorded. Was able to download log files from today, here is the winzip file.Plex Media Server Logs_2018-10-11_23-23-23.zip (2.3 MB)
Seems like I might have more than one problem because I also see a transcoder error on a couple of items that stayed in the recording list even thought they didn’t record. Other items disappeared from the recording schedule completely.
Are you sure that channels 29.1 and 5.1 have good signal from the antenna? All recordings from those stations recordings seemed to have been the ones that failed last night reporting that no audio or video was found in the stream.

Yes, they do have a good signal. No problem streaming them or recording them until Sept. 29. Those just happen to be the only channels we are trying to record right now. We can watch these shows live with no problem. Get great video and audio. I had it set to any channel, just switched it to the specific channels on Tuesday (Oct. 9), after shows didn’t record on the 8th, to see if that would fix the problem. But everything was recording fine up on all channels until Sept. 29, I think the first error we noticed was “Late Night at the Phog” and then the new season’s of shows started. The first week of the season, each show recorded correctly. The next week, the Monday shows didn’t record For example S3 E1 of Bull recorded on Sept. 24, but then Oct. 1 didn’t record. When I noticed it didn’t record, I looked in the recording list and it was gone. Oct. 15 was in the list to record, however. Then, it didn’t record and it was also gone from the list on Tuesday, the 16th. I had been looking at the guide and list on my Windows 10 PC and did not have any error messages. Last night I looked at it from the Plex app on my TV and that’s when I saw the transcoder errors on a few shows, the rest were just no longer in the list to record and weren’t showing up on the DVR, either.
I get the same about no audio and video
From what i can see looking at similar recent threads on this, the tuner is taking a while to respond and a new timout added in recent servers is causing it to give up
When i get this error, i can go onto the server and view the channel that tried to record without issues (this then starts the recording going)
So, I thought I was experiencing this issue, but I don’t think I am, now.
The issue I’m having is that the guide data is incorrect. Each episode of the show I want to record (old game shows on a local broadcast network) has the same exact episode number in the guide (the date…)
So, I need some way to tell Plex to FORCE record episodes regardless of whether it thinks it has the data.I had this ability in MythTV, kinda lamenting leaving it for some stuff like this…
Or, maybe I need to report a listings error?
You can tell it to record ALL episodes, not just new ones. But, if the guide is wrong, it’s going to think it’s recording the same episode over and over again.
You have to fix the issue with the guide.
Same issue here - all of my recordings were set up to record HD only (some recording only new episodes, some to record new & repeat). Almost all recordings are not happening - looking at the recording calendar only 2 series were showing up with upcoming entries to record (out of 24 total series recordings set up). Removing the recording setup and re-adding makes no difference. However editing the recording setup to change the resolution from “HD Only” to “Any” and then select the HD channel, those episodes then show up in the recordings calendar. Definitely something funky going on with the HD Only option after a recent update.
Having the same issue with a particular show. Charmed is set up to record on Sundays at 9:00 but the “Recording Priority” shows “No upcoming airings”. Even though the guide had the episode set to record last night it never actually recorded anything. All other shows seem to be recording fine. One thing in common with the original post my server also has Supergirl set to record on Sundays at 8:00, both series (Charmed and Supergirl) appear on the same channel (CW) similar to how OP has 2 recordings (jeopardy, and jeopardy).
An update - recordings still not working as of Oct. 15, so today I went searching for answers on another forum. I uninstalled the Plex Media Server (stopped service from the tray and used Windows uninstall programs from the control panel - the suggestion said not to use other uninstallers). Found the former version of the media server in the Plex Media Server Updates folder and installed it. Did not have to reboot the computer or set up recordings again, or anything. I set it to record a show that was about to start and it worked perfectly, just like it did before the update. The version I rolled back to was 1.13.5.5332.
That proves to me that this problem of the tuner not recognizing or timing out before the audio or video stream starts and Plex cancelling the job is an issue with the updated Plex version. I will leave up the old version and monitor the forums and won’t upgrade again until I’m sure the issue has been fixed.
Doesn’t solve the problem of the guide not having the correct information on whether a show is new or not, or episodes with the same name or number (like old Magnum PI and new Magnum PI).
A definitive test would seemingly be:
- Make a recovery point for your system as of right now
- Upgrade the Plex software
- Re-test
If the problem returns, your conclusion is 100% on.
I had the exact same issue… Server running flawless for months until some shows were not recording anymore. I followed ember1205s steps and noticed that just unchecking the enhanced guide and unchecking the channels did the trick and the recordings were scheduled back again. Before the guide finished updating I’ve enabled the channels again and the guide is now refreshing… Thank you so much for posting this it was driving me nuts.
Additional information: I have a Plex pass too. The shows were being displayed as “no airing available” and I do remember the episode numbers matching the date, i.e. episode 10-24 instead of season X episode Y.
So it was really something that happened with an update and/or the guide early/mid October. This is when the recordings stopped.

I too am experiencing the problem with an unraid docker Plex implementation version 1.14.0.5465. I have gone so far as to uninstall the DVR, deleted all all episodes timers, and resetup the DVR. After all that worked for a couple hours until multiple shows were recording. After that all the episodes showed in activity but never finished. After that the shows from today disapeared from the recordings but are there for tomorrow until tomorrow is today… Very frustrating. Additional info: using a HDhomerun quad OTA tuner with the over the top cable channel service.Plex Media Server Logs_2018-11-14_10-10-11.zip (5.3 MB)
Having the same issue, shows are set to record, can see them in the agenda and calendar views for TOMORROW, but once tomorrow comes and the guide refreshes, they all disappear! Happening for a few days now.
Will try uninstalling/reinstalling, but may roll back to a previous install instead.
