So I scheduled 8 recordings to start at 11 am with 6 of them being 30 mins long and 2 hour long.
All 8 recorded it appears with no issue. Of the six 30 minute ones only 4 of them were sent to post processing and the other 2 were added directly to the library. Once the 2 hour long ones finished they were added to the post processing queue…
I’ll keep monitoring . . . I have 9 shows at various times tonight . . . so I’ll be watching and monitoring them.
@sa2000 are you still looking for logs when this occurs, or are you able to reproduce? It definitely happens frequently if I use Live TV as I mentioned above. If I don’t use Live TV or restart PMS after using Live TV, my recordings are pretty solid… Just my 2 cents.
12 days short of 1 year since the problem was initially posted and this is still an issue!?!? I’m seeing staff members asking paying customers to run WireShark!?!? At what point does Plex refund the money for a product that simply continues to not work as advertised? I’m seriously considering issuing a charge back for this service as it does not operate as advertised.
I’m in the UK and getting this issue from time to time running 3 WinTV DuoHD tuners on Plex Version 1.13.9.5439 on Ubuntu 18.04LTS… I’m really surprised this issue hasn’t been resolved at all!!
They really do need to sort their act out and forget adding new stuff to Plex and concentrate on fixing bugs like this, else they risk becoming like Microsoft have with Windows 10 bugs… lack of testers???
With the Windows 10 bugs, there were identified by the testers, but MS didn’t listen to the testers. They’ve since revamped their bug reporting process and allow users to flag critical bugs like the data loss issue to the devs attention. The thing with Windows 10 is that, for the most part, it was free for users. MS has offered free upgrades since Windows 8.
Now with Plex, if the DVR functionality was free I wouldn’t be so upset about all the issues with the product. I would take my time/effort to help with submitting logs to the devs in hopes to make the product better. All I want to do at this point is to get my money back and move on to a working product.
The actual issue I’m having affects 3 channels, especially when we’re watching one while recording the other, it’s when the recording finishes it trips the Transcoder or when we’re watching one of the other channels and my 3 year old son is watching the cartoon channel and we change from that to say an HD channel or vice versa, the transcoder goes into a wobble then shows up the message “Playback Error”
This along with Photo uploading from our phones was one of the reasons we became Plex Pass users, but since it seems the Dev’s are more interested in adding Web Shows, which sorry to say are not that good, they seem to have let the other sections go! This needs to be fixed and soon, as I’m beginning to feel I’ve wasted over £100 on 3 WinTV DuoHD receivers to cut the cord totally and save our family money on subscription TV. The issue doesn’t happen on Movies or TV shows I have on the other hard drives, just the Live TV…
So if any Plex Dev is reading this, please fix it soon as it’ll make a certain 3 year old happy and my pregnant girlfriend to… Oh plus my Ex-Wife who thought it was me messing with the server!!
I think I have that same issue. I deleted the HDHomeRun device from Plex but keep getting this in the logs:
Plex Media Server.5.log:Oct 22, 2018 13:46:44.063 [0x7fe1febff700] ERROR - DVR:Device: Error refreshing existing device device://tv.plex.grabbers.hdhomerun/1325DF61, marking as dead.
I used an SQL database tool to manually delete all the DVR entries from the database, and then re-added the DVR. There were six or seven rows with DVR entries in them.
Tuning works much, much better now, based on a brief test.
What table contains these dvr references - I copied the db over to another system to see if I had that problem as I have deleted and added tuners many times over the course of the last few months - but I could not find the table that contains the tuners…
