I’m looking at getting the HDHomeRun Duo for use with my Antenna and Plex for DVR purposes. I read that SiliconDust has a DVR service you can pay for yearly through them, but is that required when using Plex DVR? I want a tuner that will let me record and save onto my computer for use with Plex but I don’t want to have to pay $35/yr for that when I could get a TV subscription w/DVR for less. Can anyone confirm if I will be required to pay for their DVR if using it with Plex?
Plex does not use the Silicon Dust software for DVR. It all comes down to the Guide data which someone has to pay for.
Plex requires a Plex Pass to activate the DVR, it is your choice whether it is a recurring or one time charge.
Plex Pass is much more resonably-priced than SiliconDust’s software. That’s all I needed to know. Thanks!
And a dedicated server that runs 24/7. Say any core i5 with 8 GB of ram.
