PLEX finds no content

Server Version#: 1.25.8.5663

Hi everyone,

I’m a newb and struggling to setup PLEX on (Synology DSM7) NAS.

The package is installed and I’ve pointed PLEX to a dedicated (shared) folder for Movies. However, when I access PLEX on the client software, the directory is empty.

Am I missing something with permissions ? The shared folder gives everyone Read access.

Does PLEX on NAS need to be authenticated ?

I expect the solution is simple, I’m just thinking about it the wrong way. Any help is appreciated.

Otto, many thanks for your quick advice !

It’ll be frustrating as I’m sure you’ve seen my question a thousand time.

Getting started with PLEX on NAS has been a bit like “drinking from a firehose” … too much information to wade through. Step 30 was exactly what I needed to do.

Separately, do you have any tips on remote access ?

These screenshots were taken within minutes of one another.

Without making any configuration changes, I seem to be going “offline” … at least outside my local network.

You nailed it - again.

Thanks Otto.

Again, I realize this info is readily available and apologize that I didn’t find it myself.

Otto, things have been working well since you helped me.

Here’s a strange occurrence, I have a television series (pictured) where only 1 episode is available on PLEX. The others are not displayed on the TV interface.

I’ve re-verified the permissions, and re-scanned the folder, but no joy.

Any idea why 7 episodes would be missing ?

Yeah, the naming schema is off should be SxxExx Not x-xx

You’re a genius DBIRCH ! Problem solved !

Not really, just the most common issue.
