@McWanke it is truly amazing the global reach that Plex has. It’s also amazing to me that all interactions I have had on the forums with Devs and Plex staff, I can tell that they use the software and love the software.
For me, Plex is a vital part of my day and vital part of how I share my media in my home. My server has my kids favorite things on it and my server is something I intend to pass on to my children, and I hope that Plex is around for that. So as Plex expands and tries more new things like social network type things, it sometimes feels like Plex is forgetting or will stop supporting the functions and features that make it such a good personal software product. If that makes sense. So I recommend and say it would go a long way a very long way with me if Plex would also make a few more comments or maybe even along with new releases of things if Plex acknowledge and stated, something like “hey for the die hard in the weeds users, we are not forgetting you” Or something like “hey for the die hard users, these new features are opt out or opt in”. Just something like that.
As I have said many times keep up the great work and please don’t forget anyone as you expand. You are making and maintaining software that is giving people control over their media. Which is becoming more and more important and more and more appealing.
Bounced this one off the team. Looks like we should be able to do this so we have gone ahead and added it to the backlog to take a deeper look at! Thanks for joining us in the Fireside chat @Ascii-227 !!
Is there any chance of getting more controls over auto-deletion of DVR content? Currently, we have the ability to:
Flag recordings to be (scheduled to be) deleted after watch, but only for the admin user.
Flag recordings to be deleted after (more than 1, 3, 5) episodes.
Flag recordings to be deleted that are older than (more than 3, 7, 30) days.
Some more advanced selecting would be handy. For point 1, I’d like the ability to specify that something is flagged to be deleted after “Users A, B, and D” have watched an episode.
For point 2 and 3, could we get the ability to manually specify the number? In my case, I’d like to either be able to set upwards of 10 or 15 for “episode count”, and to set 2 weeks (14 days) for “delete after _ days”.
Instead of adding a dozen or more new drop-downs, could we simply get a “After X Days” and “More than X episodes” options that use a small text field that can be filled by me?
Just want to put in my 2c for support of having the ability to see Unwatched marks(the original Yellow/Orange Earmark). I understand that some people prefer to see watched marks instead, so having the option for either would be awesome.
Other people have already mentioned the above, so I guess the 2 features/issues that I have with Plex at the moment apart from that is:
1- Setting a boost for audio when watching some content
2- Setting combinations of Subtitle Languages per Library
For the audio boost issue, there is some content that is so quiet that even at max volume in Plex Web Player and max volume for my PC that I can barely hear it, but if I switch to playing in Media Player Classic I can then boost the audio 400% and then actually hear it. Can we get something like this in Plex Web Player?
Hi @SanaeMio !! We definitely want to improve this feature in the future. I know that there is some work there right now and our primary goal is to try and standardize this across all clients - which is a challenge due to how different platforms work. However, we definitely don’t consider this feature to be “done” and want to continue to make it a better experience going forward!
I am from outside Philadelphia but I have since retired to Colombia SA and live in a mountainous region that has only one fiber optic cable from the city of Medellin that gets knockout out quit a bit. I would love to see better off-line streaming of local media so that we can still watch something when the internet goes down.
Ooh, seconded. I forgot how much I loved the ability in Kodi to boost volume by X amount. Last year I was watching my Plex content in another state, and the TV in the unit was so quiet (and the AC to keep us from melting was so loud) that we had to rely on subtitles to watch some of my content.
I accept that and was going to mention it in my initial comment but didn’t.
I’m a home media enthusiast, nothing else! As someone who has been using plex for over 10 years and while I’m still here I’ll continue to advocate and help other community members for what took me to plex in the first place, home media management.
Thanks for the fireside opportunity! I’ve a few Plexamp ideas:
Can the Sonos pause bug be looked at? Every time I start music playback on a Sonos speaker from Plexamp the music pauses after 12 seconds. (Sometimes at 0% volume, but thats a separate thing possibly!) I then have to hit play again and it carries on without a problem for the rest of the listening session.
I have a smart playlist for track ratings > 100000 which works fairly well. But could there be a way of searching/smart filtering to find high ratings relative to the rest of the album? Basically I want to make playlists of the all the ‘hot’ fire icon tracks!
Would it be possible to be able to search (and smart playlist) for music tracks within a certain bpm speed? This would be awesome for gym workout music.
For Plexamp on Desktop can it snap to the different views when resizing? I like the 2 column view, but have to drag-resize around to find the smallest size to make it appear.
Can you please stop automatically enabling the email preferences each time you add a new thing. If we have unsubscribed from all, we are not very likely to want some new stuff…
As a related side question, is there anything in the client UIs which indicate that a long press is available? I found it the other day quite by accident, holding down the OK button on something and a menu I had never seen popped up! Now I have been trying a long-press on everything, but it would be really useful to know at a glance what buttons have this option available.
I’d also appreciate having something like this put in place, with there being a better ability in doing so to apply statuses to the tickets (even if it is won’t fix).
Having raised a bug myself, it can be frustrating to get no acknowledgement.
Oh wow, I didn’t know that was even an option. I just tried it and it worked. I am embarrassed there. However, my universal remote long press doesn’t always function well, so I don’t use it often. I’ll have to try this going forward.
