If my TV goes to standby while playing music Plex audio is disabled
The TV audio is unaffected, other sources (Film and TV) work fine after going to standby
The only way to restore music audio is to force close the app and relaunch

I am experiencing similar symptoms with my Shield TV.
I experience the same problem; after standby there is no sound anymore. The only solution is to reinstall the Plex App. Very annoying certainly because the personal settings of myself and my family members have disappeared. Android 8.0 (Oreo) is running on my Sony TV. On the Plex side I use server version 1.16.5.1554 and I use Plex Player version 7.20.0.11992. I hope Plex knows how to fix this bug soon. Thank you in advance …

I have also cleared cache and data from the Android TV app and it has made no difference
Same issue for me as well. I have made a post for it. I hope they will fix it in a next version.

With version 7.21.0.12323 on the Sony / Android television and serverversion 1.16.6.1592 the problem is stil present. Yesterday Plex seemed to work as usual on my television, but today the problem still seems to exist. No idea why Plex did it yesterday. I hope that the people of Plex come up with a solution soon.
Same problem here with xiaomi tv box. I do have audio on navigation when moving pointer, also videos will have sound, but not my music (flac).
Extra anoying is that I set xiaomi box to not go to standby, but I guess screensaver kicks in or something, as it gets black screen, then I just click something and picture comes instantly.

Still a problem for me, the moment the TV goes to standby I go straight back to Plex and the music is back to being muted.
I just checked again and the combination:
still works as it should; even if I switch on the TV after a night of standby and I use Plex. At a later moment I check server version 1.18.0.1944 which is now out of beta stage.
Please note that my TV is not on standby while Plex is playing. That may be the difference with the problem that you have raised.

I am still able to consistently replicate the problem by:
Opening Plex on Android TV
Playing audio until the TV goes to standby
Waking from standby and trying to play any audio
The key thing here is that audio was playing, not video, at the time of going to standby. I have been able to consistently replicate this on Android TV and NVidia Shield.
