I’m a little put out that I’ve been reporting this same issue for 3 months without any Plex admin input.

FYI all, after receiving no updates in here I added a note to the Streaming Devices section of the forum and got this response:

Sorry, everyone we still don’t have a solution yet. To provide some background, this issue is a result of a change we made to the music player that fixed an issue that was causing distortion on various devices. The fix for that has resulted in this issue. The devs are trying various things but so far one fix brakes the other. They hope to find a solution soon.

Plex has no music audio after waking Shield TV

This is off topic for the thread, so we may get busted for this, but I’ll seek forgiveness over permission! My 5.1 flac files (which are audio files taken from DVDs of concerts and are only 16 bits because I’m not a snob/don’t know what I’m doing/care about disk space-take your pick) play as Unknown (FLAC-5.1) on both my Shield and an iPad. Same problem.
I use Google Assistant to turn on/off my TV and since the Shield is tied to the keyword “tv”, the GA turns off both the TV and the Shield. I don’t mind much that it turns off (put in standby) the Shield, except that when it’s turned back on, I get no audio in Plex. I have to close the app and relaunch every time.

Yeah, they’re not listening anymore. Five months with this problem without a single peep from anyone. This problem renders the Android TV app essentially BROKEN. I’ve actually taken to using VLC on my Shield TV to have a functional player for my media. Never thought I’d have to go back to the DLNA route.

For anyone having this issue, please tre the latest public release of 7.28.0. This should now be fixed. Please report back if you still experience the Shield not playing music after waking up. Plex for Android

Occording to my post on october 19, Plex worked fine for me. Unfortunately after the latest firmware update by Sony (to version v6.6545) and my TV has been switched on during stand by, I don’t hear any sound during music playback and the track starts again (and again and again) after 3 seconds of playing.

I think that the problem can only be solved via a firmwareupgrade from the Sony or Plex side . However, if someone knows a better work-around than a hard reset, I really would like to hear from you.

No luck for my Sony Bravia with v8. My Plex version 7.30.x. Restarting the Android TV fixes the problem for me until the next time (overnight) the TV goes into standby mode.
