This is off topic for the thread, so we may get busted for this, but I’ll seek forgiveness over permission!
My 5.1 flac files (which are audio files taken from DVDs of concerts and are only 16 bits because I’m not a snob/don’t know what I’m doing/care about disk space-take your pick) play as Unknown (FLAC-5.1) on both my Shield and an iPad. It doesn’t say that it’s transcoding, but that may be me missing a clue somewhere. Sorry I can’t be more help, and I’d love to know if you find an answer somehow.
