Plex for Mi Box S is not playing any video since last update on Mi Box S few days ago

Since latest Mi Box S update(2-3 days ago) plex cant play any video. VLC is working just fine with the same videos so i assume its something on plex end which should be fixed?

It just says “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.” …

There’s multiple threads open about this issue. You just have to go under settings in plex, Advanced and disable the new video player.

It could be also helpful if you could provide app logs following this article.

I have the same problem after lastest mi box s upgrade. Only old player is working

So doo you still need a log or you have one from JasonsPlex

I think they’ve identified the problem and they’re working on a patch now:).

We are investigating the issue (not 100% identified yet), so any new app logs are always welcome @zorvalth.

I don’t know if that information can help.
When the new Player is enabled, the videos do not play, and when I disable it, it plays, however it is as if frames are missing as if it were a stop motion animation.

Another thing that happens, the films that belong to Plex itself, in the library that Plex makes available, everything runs normally there, with the new Player enabled or not, only those in my library that do not run. Should I also make some adjustments to my server? The problem I have other boxes including Apple (Apple Tv 4), Amazon Fire TV and all are working normally, and my cousin and my sister who access the network from outside because they live in another house are using the same box Xiaomi S without problems .

When I opened the box that was still running Android TV 8.1 everything was working fine.

I have exactly the same problem, I am starting to be very disappointed with Plex.

I want plex to be more serious in its compatibility because we pay a fortune to be, in the end, unable to use it every other day.

However I do not meet the slightest concern with other readers (vlc, ds video …). If Plex does not find solutions with more responsiveness, we will have to take legal action?

Sometimes whole weeks with the same problem. I have several friends who use Plex and who also have problems all the time, it’s unacceptable to continue like this! I am furious.

Have you been able to find a solution?

ps; when you launch Plex with a smartphone and towards the CAST function, then it works. I wish more seriousness in the updates. Today it has already been a full week since Plex has stopped working!

True. Still working with CAST from Android phone.

still having that issue … cannot play video ( i can only if i disable new player…)

issue started after update xiaomi mi box s to android 9.0 …

think it’s linked to the patch of H.264 issues from xiaomi.
but it seem’s like plex doesn’t care because they tell us nothing.

could we know if you work on it or if i can give it up
