That’s great news - thanks for the update.
My media is no longer wife-proof so it’s causing headaches…
Exactly the same for me.
Deactivating the new player is useless, it only resolves part of the files.
80% of files are unreadable, over and over again.
It’s been like that for weeks. All the other apps work fine (VLC, DS Video, Netflix).
Why is the most expensive application the most unstable?
Why not open the door to VLC for reading, and choose your reader?
How to contact PLEX so that they can solve the problem with high priority, because part of the year 2019 had the same problem!
Have you found a real solution?
now on google play : 8.0.1.17410
So is there any way to opt into the beta then?
Plex is virtually unusable for me at the moment.
Or can we downgrade to another version or anything?
This has been an issue for weeks (or months) so I’m not too optimistic of this beta going into production any time soon.
Wow. Tried to play video on my Mi Box after server down for almost a month due to drive failure and following RMA. Nothing plays. Came here, found it reported since April and not solved. Not suprised by Plex support, which is kind of sad. For me, disabling the new player and refresh rate switching worked. Logs attached if anyone form plex actually reads this.

Just download the latest beta, its fixed now.,
Hi. Where did you download the beta version from?
@ Uhakim
The download-links are in the beta-article here. Just click the ‘Release announcement’ header on the embedded article.
Well the latest beta did not fix it for me. Back to the legacy player.
Edit - jumped the gun too fast - started working after clearing the app data.
Working for me, thanks for help
As per another thread
Happy report I updated Plex from the Google Store just now (no beta) from my 8.0.2? Version to 8.1.0.17967 and the new video player is now working. I did force stop first and or after (not sure if required) but I didn’t have to clear any data or any extra steps.
I have the same problem.
I change Player to old version and there working properly, and it is the fastest workaround the problem at the moment.
Before update the new video player was working good.
Installing Official Plex addon in latest Kodi App solved everything.
These kind of things didn’t use to happen in Shield TV, but its power adapter wall socket died and had to get a Xiaomi Box S, which is great also but cannot be compared to Shield

OT: As I’m from Argentina, I cannot get a new wall plug replacement from the f… NVidia, only US
same problem … Version1.19.3.2852 of server
Hey all, came here after experiencing the same issues. What worked for me was disabling HDMI passthrough on th eapp. Hope it helps.
!!!
I specify that if VLC does its job well, Plex must be able to do it also on the same Hardware installation. And if VLC works well, my equipment is therefore flawless.
THANKS TO PLEX FOR DOING SOMETHING SERIOUS FOR ALL ITS CUSTOMERS !!!
