Before anything, I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to get a great app to watch movies on many devices.
I too get an audio issue (stereo only) on my ps4 pro. It’s cool to have someone who is looking into it. Now I would like to suggest you to ask your colleague in charge of plex on panasonic smart tv to do the same.
The thing is I bought a Panasonic TX-55FZ800E about a year ago and it must be the worst version of plex on any device. On the opposite, i have another Samsung smart TV 2013 and plex from orca is one of the best version for me.
The worst thing in this app on panasonic is to not be able to get an 5.1 audio (only stereo). I have a home cinema so I can’t watch movies with stereo (I get the feeling there is something missing preventing myself to fully enjoy the plex experience).
I know the OS of the panasonic TV is not good so I wait for a new version of Plex even though it’s not Plex staff 's priority. So I decided to install Plex on my PS4 Pro to get a real experience. Even if I prefer to use Plex from the TV because it’s easier (don’t have to switch on multiple devices simultneously).
Yesterday I got the issue on the ps4 as well so I will wait for you to solve this problem, and I thank you for that. But PLEASE, make something happen on panasonic side too because it’s really annoying not to be able to fully enjoy this wonderful app on these TVs.
You can see on the link below that the problem is known since the start of Plex on Panasonic (there is a lot of other posts that was closed on this thread too). New PLEX version for Panasonic - When?
I’m having issues on base PS4 with the sound too. In my case I send surround sound from PS4 to my receiver (via optical) and my receiver converts the signal and outputs in 2.0.
This last release my Plex App stopped outputting sound for some of the releases, but not all of them. The sound still works with most of my 5.1 content but stopped working with a specific series release (DM if you want more info about that). It is a bummer since we’re nearing the end of it and this issue just plain stopped our ability to finish the series.
I find it strange since we did not change anything, on one day it was working, the other after the update it was not. Plex server was updated also.
PS4 2.0 app doesnt carry over surround sound. 2.0 only. I cant find an option on server or client. Oh and I use optical and not HDMI. Old surround. Worked until this update came. I use it daily almost daily.
Add me to the list no longer getting surround output on my PS4. Worked prior to the 2.0 update. I tried changing the audio output settings a few times, but as soon as you try to play a movie, it goes back to stereo.
What issues are you looking into? Audio? You have clearly ignored everyone else’s issues.
Been pushed the new update and still experiencing the same deleting issue I tagged you in before and you never bothered to respond to.
To reconfirm the issue: when deleting a video Plex just sits and spins. None of the controller buttons are responsive. The loading icon just continues to spin. We are then forced to close the Plex app via the PS4 menu to force close. Once we reopen and navigate back to our files, the video we requested to be deleted, has been.
We use the delete feature multiple times a day (up to 10) and can not be expected to waste so much time force closing the app and retuning to our files each time, as that takes approx 2-3 mins depending on loading times.
It worked perfectly fine before the last two updates you pushed to us.
Also no longer getting surround output after the last update. Everything from within the Plex app reverts to 2.0, outside the Plex app surround sound is working as it should.
Sorry, I missed that in all the deluge of messages. It would be helpful to create a separate thread for separate issues. I’m going to close this thread as it’s no longer relevant to the topic.
Regarding the issue you’ve described, I am not able to reproduce it. Could you enable logging in the app and send some logs my way in another thread?
Why is it so difficult to set up the Playstation App so that the user settings are not reset every time an update is made?
I’ve already mentioned this 5 times, every time you say that you look at it but since more than 8 months nothing happens. It can’t be the case that the users have to adjust this every time.
Besides many users do not notice it at all. For me as a server administrator this is a huge problem, because many people use this app, it comes oh every update regularly to hangers because too many want to transcode then, although it would not be necessary at all.
Please get this problem under control, otherwise you have to mark the Playstation app as unusable and only work with Android or PC Apps. Because there it works that it remains stored with the updates.
Hi @Moussa … I have logs enabled and they are sent to Plex automatically. However, I have located the download logs feature and have uploaded them here for you.
I recreated the issue as one of the last tasks before I downloaded the logs, so the most recent logs should be sufficient. However, the logs go back to March 2019, so should have more than enough examples from the last two uploads of us attempting to delete and encountering the delete and hanging issue.
Would appreciate a resolution ASAP, as all of these issues recently have meant we have taken all our items from Plex and stored them elsewhere and then moved them back when the new update came through, as it seemed to be fixed. But we are still experiecing this deleting issue.
Thanks for the logs. A couple of things. I see a fair few permission errors when PMS is trying to delete things from your computer, that seems unusual. These lines do seem suspicious too. You delete one file and then a different file almost immediately becomes unreachable.

Do you have any unusual permissions set or have the files symlinked in some way?
Hi @Moussa thanks for taking a look. No we don’t have any permissions or files linked in anyway (to be honest, I would not even know how to link files).
The permissions for that computer and Plex are just whatever would be standard. We haven’t changed anything.
Interesting it shows that another files becomes unavailable, because we haven’t found Plex deleting other files once it hangs. We just close the app, go back in and select a new file to watch and they all seem to work (except when there was that buffering issue in the update before last, but haven’t experienced that since the new update about 2 weeks ago).
@Moussa, I’m having a new problem with the PS4 and PS3 apps. I get garbled video when using subtitles, whether they are embedded into an MKV, or selected as an .srt file. Not sure when it started happening, but it is now. If I turn off the subtitles, the video plays fine. The audio plays fine regardless. Only the video gets scrambled.
Video plays fine on MY PC in the browser and on the phone app.
Plex Version: Version 1.18.2.2058 on a qnapp
PS4 App version 2.01
I’ve updates to the most recent PLEX qnap upgrade available on the PLEX site, as opposed to the most recent that Qnap pushes, and I still have this issue with jumbled video when subtitles are present (not burned in).
The Plex for PS4 has always been buffering streams every a few seconds for me. Today I noticed that if I turn sub title off, no buffering issues exists O_o
So I tested and with sub title, the stream processing causes the NAS’ CPU go to 100%, while without sub title, CPU is around 10-20%. It seems that sub title is burned to the video stream. How to disable this? Any hints?
