Plex for PlayStation 4 v2 beta

@Moussa I just recently updated my PS4 plex app. And while I love alot of the new design, I have an interesting issue.

A tv show that I was watching with this update just a week ago now suddenly has no sound. It’s audio type is “unkown Vorbis mono”. It played after I updated last week but now it doesn’t.

It will still play just fine on my android plex app and my computer though. Any idea what changed?

Exactly same issue here. Please fix it.

Unable to play any sort of video file. Getting “There was an unexpected error. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems”

Buffering has also been noticeable worse since the upgrade.

This new UI is awful, so bad to navigate, everything is all over the place and not organized the way I set it up on my server. Please role back this update! Garbage!

@Moussa hey there! I just received my long awaited PS4 Pro and as a true Plex lover I instsantly installed the app as my first action on the PS4 Pro :smiley:

Anyways it seems to be sort of broken, as I can’t even seem to pick a User from the very first screen. I can’t pick anything and the screen freezes instantly, then the screensaver comes up with no way out of it :smiley: That’d been the coolest thing to have my beloved Plex on the PS4 :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

My setup:

PMS version: 1.14.0
Playstation Model: PS4 Pro
App Version: Latest available on PS4 Store sorry for no further information

Having the same exact issue. Plex was working perfectly before this started popping up. Please fix this ASAP.

same issue. it worked after the update, but not for the last 2 days

same issues as other users. updated to the latest PLEX for PS4 3 days ago.

Also, haven’t seen this mentioned yet. Under shows, where there should be a screenshot (i see the notice at the top of the forums for missing metadata, not the issue) is a Play button, and the … for what I hope will be options to indicate already watched…

however they don’t work. they are grayed out. in order to play a show, I have to go to the bottom of the screen, where the episodes have screenshots, and select the show there.

Also have the issue where audio does not stream from one series. It streams fine on my android and roku.

The new UI is awful. Please give us an option to use the old one.

Having the same problem as others here. The update worked at first - but within the last few days, whenever I play anything, I get “There was an unexpected error. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems”

I am able to load the same exact videos without issue using the web app and my phone.

So what I found out is that the screen doesn’t actually freeze on my end, but is super duper unrespsonsive. I managed (after several tries and jamming buttons constantly) to log into my account, but was greeted with the message, that my server can’t be found and the problem is still the same. The UI is inusuably clunky.

Even though I managed to connect the server, by telling the app it’s on the same network, it’s impossible to pick any item. Playstation Cursor sounds are working, even thogh I don’t see anything being hovered. It’s pretty frustrating tbh, hope there might be a fix soon :sweat:

I have been trying to use this app for over a week. It constantly crashes no matter what I change/adjust in settings. Sometimes I get 5 minutes of use, other times I get 5 seconds. I get this error every time CE-34878-0 Please fix this.

  • PMS version: Version 3.69.1 (Mac)
  • PlayStation model: PS4 Pro
  • App version: 1.05

For everyone else on here, if you’d still like to watch your Plex library on your PS4, the Playstation Media Player app will detect your Plex network and plays the content. You just have to browse through the folders to find the show/movie you want to play. It’s not pretty but at least you get uninterrupted viewing. Unlike the current Plex app :frowning:

Please fix these issues ASAP Plex.

I too am having horrible issues with the PS4 Plex client. It either crashes on playback or goes extremely slowly.

I am using it because I am having annoying issues with the Android TV client. That also seems to stream terrible (worse than Chromecast) even though it’s wired. And I have the optical 5.1 (or lack of) Android issue.

Why do Plex seem to struggle so much with the basics?

This update does not work. I don’t understand why you’d take out core functions like skip forward and skip backward across all media types, and the fact that you can’t fast forward or rewind at all in audio libraries is incredibly short-sighted. It also crashes 60 minutes into any file over 90 minutes, so that’s been really fun with movies and audiobooks. I wish I could revert to the previous version.

Good timing to go on holiday. Let’s have an update on a major platform and then don’t reply or literally do anything for the paying customer for almost 2 weeks. As much as I like Plex on my Windows machine, as much I hate it on PS4. How is that even possible, that you charge your customers with 59€ a year (like me) and then don’t give a damn about everybody complaining in your fora, that a major app isn’t working? I’ve been to emby once, but emby isn’t as reliable in terms of streaming experience, but at least they are prompt at responding and having things fixed. Maybe one should think about that again.

Yeah, go and make an update for a platform 80 million users use and then leave them on their own with not a single response. Holy F I can’t even open Plex on my PS4. ‘Disappointing’ would be much of an understatement.

I have many friend with the same issue, currently deleting the app and re installing it everytime the PS4 shuts down…

I regret to bought a Lifetime Pass (can I get back my fund?). Plex works on my Playstation since I spend my money for 5 Days! 5 Days for 100+ €.

I move on the Emby and bought a Zidoo X9S. It can’t be worse than plex. Dear Plex -Team; that there are bugs and mistake is not a problem. This happens always around the world. Not to answer and admit, that you work for a solution is really bad. So, if I have a possibility to get back my money, contact me.

Same, the update was awesome, now can’t play anything on PS4, i get the same notifcation

Yea I only get this error whenever I put my ps4 in rest mode and come back to plex to begin playing again where I put it into sleep mode. It will play for like 5 seconds then crash and need to relaunch the app. But have also gotten it before where I wasn’t playing out of rest mode. That does seem to be one of the most popular errors. I wonder if those error reports get sent to Sony or Plex though.
